I believe that Trump genuinely believed that the judges on the list were what pro-life pro-Constitution supporters of his wanted.

Clearly, that was wrong, and for that I blame the organization most responsible for compiling that list.

Reportedly, that was the Federalist Society, so either they lack principles or they lack competence.

Roberts was highly regarded by the Federalist Society as well, and purportedly was a card-carrying Federalist Society member.

Given their track record over the past 20 years (plenty of non-SCOTUS "Federalist Society" lawyers have turned traitor as well, like Ted Olsen), future GOP presidents would be wise to ignore any so-called "originalist" they tout as SCOTUS material.

As I noted, these so-called "originalists" have turned out about as well as every politician who gets elected by running as a "fiscal conservative"

We certainly didn't get solid justices like Rehnquist due to taking advice from the Federalist Society.
