Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam issued an eleventh-hour pardon to state Sen. Joe Morrissey, who was convicted in 2014 for a misdemeanor count over a relationship with a 17-year-old receptionist at his law firm who later became his wife.
Morrissey, who like Northam is a Democrat, said he learned of the simple pardon Thursday after he sent a petition at the end of November.
Morrissey, now 64, left his seat in the House of Delegates eight years ago after being convicted of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He won reelection as an independent in a special election a short time later and spent nights in jail while working during the day in the General Assembly as part of a work-release sentence.

Actually... 16 is the age of majority... But who’s counting, other than Prince Andrew?
Children are issued with a National Insurance number by the government. With parental consent they may join the British Army and get married (not required in Scotland for marriage), and drink wine, beer or cider with a meal in a restaurant. Without parental permission they may work in full-time employment, engage in sexual intercourse, obtain a licence to drive a low-powered motorcycle and open a bank account. The NSPCC suggests 16 as the minimum age for babysitting.

But consensual sex without your parents permission is allowable at the age of 16... And the young lady in the lawsuit against Prince Andrew (Virginia Giuffre) was 17 when they ‘supposedly’ had sex... She is making no allegations of rape, she is saying she was trafficked by Epstein... But she was 17 and she essentially consented to sexual intercourse... Perfectly allowable under the laws of the United Kingdom.
