For anyone still wondering why the Dems fabricated that ridiculous psychodrama on 6 January, this is it: generate a panic and stampede what they can through Congress. At this point it's pretty weak sauce but that won't prevent them from trying.

Ah, but that means no sneaking the dirty stuff into otherwise innocuous bills. Not what they had in mind. Notice too the delicacy with which NBC fails to mention any particulars of "police reform" and "voting rights", as if those vague and noble-sounding slogans should be enough to give the Dems anything they want. They don't want specific debates on the particulars of "police reform" in the middle of a multi-city crime wave, or of whose "voting rights" are actually being addressed. Nothing but slogans.
