NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A severely corroded pipeline ruptured and spilled more than 300,000 gallons (1.1 million liters) of diesel fuel just outside New Orleans, according to federal records.
The spill from the 16-inch (40-centimeter) diameter line operated by Collins Pipeline Co. was discovered Dec. 27 near a levee in St. Bernard Parish, just east of New Orleans, according to documents from the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration.
In October 2020, an inspection of the 42-year-old Meraux Pipeline revealed external corrosion along a 22-foot (7-meter) section of pipe in the same area as the spill. But repairs were delayed and the line continued operating after a subsequent inspection indicated the corrosion was not bad enough to require work immediately under federal regulations, according to the pipeline agency.
A PBF Energy representative had said in an October 2021 email to federal pipeline regulators that the company was still awaiting federal and state approval to repair the corrosion found in the vicinity of where the spill occurred, according to federal records.
That work was anticipated to begin later this month once the company received permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority, PBF Energy regulatory compliance director Thomas McLane said in the email.

They can blame the government. The left will blame the company. Guess who wins the argument?
They have to ask permission to repair or replace a pipeline?..............

Hope nobody tosses a cigarette butt out the window.
“I’m from the Government and I’m here to help.”............................
Diesel will mostly evaporate.
Government: the delay was an act of God due to Covid. Not our fault, comrade.
Next!!!
But it ain’t official until Dwayne Pride weighs in on it.

Government red tape was the cause of the spill.
Diesel down, diesel down the road...
My favorite story about diesel from several decades ago. Crew was doing salvage on a sinking ship. They had some time but they couldn’t focus on any one thing in the cargo for too long. They noticed a bunch of furs of different colors. Some of them were really expensive but alas they deemed them all worthless because they were soaked in the ship’s diesel fuel oil. So they did the salvage on the rest and got what they could. They later found out that dry cleaning solvent and diesel fuel are nearly identical. The coats would have been just fine.
Brandon’s fault!
Truckers would sometimes put cigars/cigarettes out in diesel fuel just to panic people. Takes a high heat to get diesel burning.
Remember . . .
Environmental Protection Agency says one of its safety teams accidentally released contaminated water from a mine into the Animas River in southwest Colorado.
I guess shiite happens all the time.

Notice how they had to translate the spill into liters in order to make it look SO much more devastating? (I find the media repugnant!)
Well. Blowden hates pipelines.
BTW: would this follow under ‘infrastructure’ updating or ‘Climate’ seasons, or the PPC (planned population control, that Gates (and others) want? Who gets the money while chit happens?
That soil is probably very sandy and most of it will soak down through.
They will find a way to link it to Trump or Republican energy policies.
Remember Bush was responsible for a hurricane. People still repeat this narrative.
