For those who still contend Cruz's comments were just a slip of the tongue. This is from May of last year.

Since I'm sure Cruz's people will delete this at any moment, I've also provided a screenshot.

Of Cruz's character I shall remain silent, but I will state that this was a colossal error for an ostensibly intelligent politician to make at a particularly sensitive time. Cruz has lost the pulse of both his party and the country at large, because the public isn't buying this as a Major Threat To Our Democracy. There is another thread concerning what they do believe. This is a very polarized issue and Ted is trying to straddle a fence over nothing. Middle ground here not only won't get him votes, it will get him rightfully disdained - there just isn't much there there.

This issue is, in fact, a massive political swindle even greater than the Russian Dossier sham and Cruz is apparently buying it hook and line, hoping that if he spits the sinker out he'll look like a moderate. It doesn't work like that.

I used to be a big fan of Senator Cruz.
He crossed the line with his statement.
I now have no use for him.

Cruz has called Trump supporters terrorists on prior occasions last year.

Senator Ted Cruz on Thursday denounced the statement President Trump issued after a mob of his supporters descended on the Capitol building Wednesday, forcing lawmakers to evacuate and unleashing a wave of violence that has resulted in the deaths of five Americans, including one Capitol Police officer.

“The president’s language and rhetoric often goes too far. I think, yesterday in particular, the president’s language and rhetoric crossed the line and it was reckless,” Cruz said in an interview with ABC13 Houston.

“I disagree with it, and I have disagreed with the president’s language and rhetoric for the last four years,” the Texas Republican added. “If you looked to what I have said, you will not find me say the same language or rhetoric.

Tx, Please remember this. Cruz must be living in the DC bubble and has zero idea what people back home are thinking. He is out of touch. He just qualified himself for a primary and disqualified himself from ever being on the supreme court. He may have read the US Constitution, but he certainly didn’t understand it. His slip of the tongue came from the gut. We don’t need Republicans with bad instincts. He is fundamentally wrong for America.

Fact is, it was indeed “a terroist attack”, but these naive Senators, CRUZ included from our party, can’t understand that the terroists were probably embedded FBI, military and others who organized, infiltrated and promoted the demonstrations.

These terrorists were already at the steps of Congress, scaling walls, after being led in by security, WHILE TRUMP was still talking.

I'm Ok with the Cruz Statement if he clarifies it to point out that the terrorists include at a minimum, Nancy Pelosi, Murial Bowser, Ray Epps, John Sullivan, Michael Byrd, Mark Milley, and components of the DOJ/FBI.
