WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today issued the following statement in opposition to the Senate commission investigating the January 6 terrorist attack on the Capitol:
"The January 6 terrorist attack on the Capitol was a dark moment in our nation's history, and I fully support the ongoing law enforcement investigations into anyone involved. Everyone who attacked the Capitol must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and brought to justice. I also support the Senate committees of jurisdiction who are exercising their proper oversight roles to provide an in-depth and complete account of the attack. With multiple investigations already underway, I do not support the politically motivated January 6 Commission led by Sen. Schumer and Speaker Pelosi."

His statement seemed to reflect some kind of weird political calculous. For whatever reasons he got caught up in the moment and thought that agreeing with Dems would advance his political aspirations.
It was an epic miscalculation and one that will haunt him for the rest of his career.

Trump and Jordan have never handed the left such a huge gift on a silver platter either. What Cruz did was bad, real bad. Znd it wasn’t just a mistaken b.jrrting out something stupid either, he has been consistent in his swamp condemnation of the protestors as terrorists all along.
Saying dumb things is forgivable- we all say stuff from time to time that we didn’t pit a lot of thought into- but betraying the party is not- it revealed his love for the swamp, and his disdain for Maga. He’s had a year now,to condemn the unconstitutional imprisonment of the majority of political prisoners, who have been held in solitary Co fi event, for no good reason, and to co demn the fsct that they have been denied bail,simp,y because they woild not denounce Trump. To,add to,your list, several of the folks up on scaffolding evening folks to Storm the Capitol, and also before the crowds got to the Capitol grounds, folksmwere videotaped removing barriers so,that the arriving folks would
not realize that they were trespassing and woild later be arrested even if the never entered the building.
The scaffolding instigators with bullhorn have not been arrested despite being clearly identifiable via several different videos

She also said that she refused to prosecute because the two sides shooting each other were, get this, “Mutal Combatants”
Seems to me that the cops and peeps in the building who fought were also “mutal combatants” if using her lib logic, because both went there to confront the other, knowing that fights woild break out, but of course she would pick and choose who to apply her lib logic to.
Another point, all that the few protestors who fought did was fist fight, and they got thrown into solitary for a year now. Her gang members never even got arrested for SHOOTING each other!

I supported Ted right up until Jan 6, and I forgave him for not endorsing Trump knowing that things got pretty nasty on both sides, and it was a natural reaction (though childish) on his part. He came around to working with Trump and supporting him (it seemed) when he supported Trump pn key issues, but now I’m left to,wonder if any of that was even genuine. Did Cruz come out agaisnt the protestors now like he did because he sees a chance for,the swamp to regain power?
It is inexplicable to my whymsuch a supposedly brilliant person would turn on 95 million voters like he did, unless he felt that now was the time for the swamp to strike back.
