Dozens of demonstrators were gunned down today as the streets of Almaty were turned into a 'war zone', with protesters being accused of beheading three police officers.
Burnt-out vehicles littered the city's streets, several government buildings were in ruins and bullet casings were strewn over the territory of the presidential residence, which was stormed and looted by protesters yesterday.
Officials have said more than 1,000 people had been wounded so far in the clashes, with nearly 400 hospitalised and 62 in intensive care. The number of protesters killed has not been revealed, but Police said earlier they had 'eliminated' dozens of rioters.
Long seen as one the most stable of the ex-Soviet republics of Central Asia, energy-rich Kazakhstan is facing its biggest crisis in decades after days of protests over rising fuel prices escalated into widespread unrest.
Kazakhstan's interior ministry on Thursday said 18 security officers have been killed and 748 wounded in the clashes with protesters. The ministry also said 2,298 protestors had been detained.
'The most difficult situation remains in Almaty, where armed men seized and partially destroyed a number of the premises of state bodies, financial organisations, television companies and trade facilities,' the interior ministry said in a statement carried by the Russian news agencies.

sounds like the wetdream of U.S. democrats
18 police killed, 800 dead.
Sounds like peacekeeping is needed. Can the US spare any social workers to parachute into the fray? Maybe send VP Harris and AOC.
Now that's how you do an insurrection !
For sure.
I just saw some video on TV... Looks like half the police have joined with the peasants in protest.
Seems to me like it is about time we have something like that here.
So while Biden wrings his hands in worry over Russia taking the Ukraine, Putin moves in and takes Kazakhstan.
Biden: 🦗🦗
I don’t believe this whole thing is about the price of petroleum products. It’s getting out of hand over there. Something else is going on.
And it still was not as bad as Jan 6!(sarc) If you can believe that.
I think it would be interesting to see some real violence from the past. Salvador Allende in 1973 immediately came to mind.
There are so many others.
Jan 6 was nothing compared to them. The Dems love their hyperbole.
I was just going to say that - although he (Sasha) won’t calm anyone down, he’ll just confuse them to the point that they don’t know how to save themselves anymore.
(Kazakhstan is the homeland granted to the Cossacks.)
LOL!
What is interesting is how rapidly A protest against oil prices doubling in the oil rich western area then quickly erupted across the country in all the major cities. So somebody was waiting in the wings to orchestrate this happening and ramping up as it did.....especially when you see the violence began.
Regime change is still the Globalist Agenda for nations who are independent and lead their own countries because they want to control all nations and gather them globally under their ne world governance. .....Brics and Eurasia nations are not on board the Global Agenda .....this is why we'll eventually see Arm-agend down the road when push comes to shove.
Now that looks like an insurrection!
he armed military that went into Kazakhstan is actually the CTS combined military of the five nations who agreed in 1991 to send in troops to help one another. Russia is just one of the five who went into Kazakhstan.
It’s kinda like when conflicts happen and the US leads coalitions or allies in to help.
Did Russia provoke this insurrection in the first place or was it the US?
We’ve got a bunch of Mexicans, Haitians, and Afghans.
When this destruction takes place in ANY protest I’m all for taking it down and breaking it up however is necessary....and yes shooting those who are setting fires and showing violent behavior.
“With Biden in the WH, now is the time for Putin to re-assemble the old Soviet Empire to its former glory, step by step.”
Careful, some on this board consider Putin to be the 2nd coming of Thomas Jefferson.
“Something else is going on”
Kazakhstan is just prosperous enough that people realize how corrrupt the government has become. There has been pressure to elect instead of centrally appointing regional leadership. The fuel price is more the trigger, setting off building frustrations.
There probably are other dimensions, but this seems plausible:
Kazakhstan produces huge quantities of oil and gas. Domestic prices have been kept very low, as a form of welfare. When the subsidies are reduced, truckers, farmers, etc., and anyone who depends on cheap gas for heat and cooking, feel the squeeze on their already low standard of living, — and get desperate. Everyone assumes corrupt oligarchs are raising prices to enrich themselves off the country’s natural resources — and get angry. Politicians manipulate that anger into violence/insurrection.
