Novak Djokovic reportedly has Australian visa canceled and cannot participation in the Australian Open over paperwork error, vaccine exemption

Novak Djokovic had received a medical exemption to compete in the Australian Open without being vaccinated against COVID-19, but that same medical exemption could end up preventing him from entering the country.

Djokovic has reportedly been denied entry to Australia due to a visa mixup. According to the Times of London, a member of Djokovic's team applied for the wrong class of visa — one that doesn't apply to people who have gotten a medical exemption — and Djokovic's stuck at the airport without a way to enter the country.

VIA THE TIMES

But Djokovic is presently unable to proceed through passport control after a member of his support team made a critical mistake in requesting a sub-class of visa that does not apply to those who have received medical exemptions from a COVID-19 vaccine. The error had been discovered by the Australian border force while Djokovic was already traveling on a 14-hour commercial flight from Dubai to Melbourne.

After spending hours reviewing the situation, Australia intends to send Djokovic back home Thursday.

Could the Australian government help?

In a case like this, the government of Victoria, the state where the Australian Open takes place, could intervene and help the defending champion gain entry to the country. However, according to the Times of London, the Victorian government has refused to support the federal government's efforts to correct Djokovic's visa application. Acting Victorian sports minister Jaala Pulford appeared to confirm this on Wednesday, tweeting that she and her department will not be supporting Djokovic if he applies for a new visa in the appropriate class.

So, you’re saying the COVID quarantine camps there are a lie?

Pretty much, yes. But there is a kernel of truth there - the best propaganda builds on something real, but exaggerates it and distorts it.

I'm happy to go into that in more detail if you're willing to seriously listen. I am in meetings at the moment but would have time to go into a bit more detail later.

ABF denies they took Djokovic’s phone. probably true, given Serbian President says he spoke to him via phone:

one example:

7 May 2021: The Local, Germany: How do you prove you’ve been vaccinated or have recovered from Covid-19 in Germany?
How do you prove you’re recovered from Covid-19?
People who have recovered from coronavirus and were infected no more than six months ago also face less restrictions.

Those who have recovered require proof of a previous infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in German, English, French, Italian or Spanish, in paper or digital form.

The test must have been a PCR test (or similar), checked in a lab and taken at least 28 days ago, and be no older than six months.

An antibody test is not sufficient because antibodies can decrease over time...

(FIRST COMMENT) Has the German government forgotten the Nuremberg code of 1947? This is an experimental injection and can’t be forced. some people have immune issues and can’t be jabbed and there are medicines available if one gets ill. Totally unacceptable...

btw there are time limitatons on vaccine immunity and natural immunity, from what I’ve read.

Djokovic allegedly claims he’s had covid twice; first time 19 months ago; no detail about second time, as yet.

FakeNewsMSM has built hysteria upon hysteria over Djokovic, but have ignored other exemptions granted to competing tennis players (number not known as yet).

sources for the above:

5 Jan: Fox Sports: Djokovic one of ‘only a handful’ approved as number of Aus Open exemption bids revealed
by Marc McGowan from Nca Newswire
Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley has revealed that tennis players and staff made ***26 medical exemption applications but ***only “a handful” were granted.

World No.1 Novak Djokovic confirmed on Tuesday night that he was among the successful people, including some other players, who received an exemption via the multi-step independent review process.

Tiley said the “strong assumption” was that Djokovic “chooses” not to be vaccinated, joining the likes of Tennys Sandgren, Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Australian Olivia Gadecki with that stance.
Frenchman Jeremy Chardy also opted not to make the trip after having an adverse reaction to a vaccination dose several months ago.

Two-time quarter-finalist Sandgren, who didn’t apply for an exemption because he didn’t satisfy any of the criteria, became the latest player to withdraw from the Open because of the vaccination mandate.

A WTA spokesperson told News Corp on Wednesday that 85 per cent of their top-100 women players were vaccinated, while the ATP men’s equivalent is 95 per cent.

Those numbers spiked significantly once the Australian Open, in consultation with government, mandated vaccination for players, support team members, tournament officials and staff, and attending fans...

“(You can get an exemption) if you meet the legitimate requirements and guidelines set forth by the government – not set forth by Tennis Australia, and that is really important to know. These are federal government guidelines.
“If you meet them, you come in and no government can decide if someone doesn’t enter.”...

Denis Shapovalov and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova were two of several players who tested positive after landing in Australia, while others did so before leaving...

Male players to contract the virus in the past month include Rafael Nadal, Andrey Rublev, Richard Gasquet, Benoit Paire, Aslan Karatsev, Evgeny Donskoy, Federico Coria, Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram.

Emma Raducanu, Belinda Bencic, Ons Jabeur, Katie Swan, Urszula Radwanska and Dalma Galfi are among the female competitors to record a positive test...

WTA attendees must conduct a PCR test every five days during an event, while there are daily temperature checks, questionnaires to complete on an app and rules on “functional groupings”...

5 Jan: Fox Sports: Full details of Novak’s exemption as mystery surrounds world No.1’s ‘medical information’
by Frank Chung from News.com.au
It remains unclear what the exact grounds were, but Mr Tiley said all applications were assessed according to guidelines from the federal government’s vaccine advisory group, the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI).
“The grounds are the same grounds that anyone can get a medical exemption, any Australian returning home or international guest,” Mr Tiley said.
“There are several reasons why they are unable to be vaccinated, ATAGI have set out very clear guidelines that have to be followed in order for you to be added to the Australian Immunisation Register, and if you’re added to that register you are then exempt from vaccination and can come into Australia.”...

During a press conference on Wednesday morning, the acting Victorian Sports Minister Jaala Pulford said there was a “robust” process for any incoming tennis players seeking an exemption.

***Mr Tiley said exemptions could be given for reasons such as “anaphylactic response, myocarditis, a poor response to any kind of vaccination, or having had Covid in the last six months”.
“These are all conditions of which you are allowed to come into Australia on,” he said...

He revealed that ***26 athletes and their support staff had made applications for vaccine exemptions and ***only a “handful” had been granted...

What are grounds for exemption?

ATAGI released its most recent guidance (LINK) “acute major medical conditions” that warrant a temporary medical exemption for Covid-19 vaccines on November 26.

For the Pfizer or Moderna mRNA Covid-19 vaccines:

• Inflammatory cardiac illness within the past three months, e.g., myocarditis or pericarditis; acute rheumatic fever or acute rheumatic heart disease (i.e., with active myocardial inflammation); or acute decompensated heart failure

For all other Covid-19 vaccines including AstraZeneca:

• Acute major medical condition (e.g. undergoing major surgery or hospital admission for a serious illness). Typically, these are time-limited conditions (or the medical treatment for them is time limited)

• PCR-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection, where vaccination can be deferred until 6 months after the infection. Vaccination should be deferred for 90 days in people who have received anti-SARS-CoV-2 monoclonal antibody or convalescent plasma therapy

• Any serious adverse event attributed to a previous dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, without another cause identified, and with no acceptable alternative vaccine available. For example a person under 60 years of age, contraindicated to receive Pfizer vaccine and in whom the risks do not outweigh the benefits for receipt of AstraZeneca vaccine, is eligible for a temporary exemption

• If the vaccine is a risk to themselves or others during the vaccination process they may warrant a temporary vaccine exemption. This may include a range of individuals with underlying developmental or mental health disorders, but noting that non-pharmacological interventions can safely facilitate vaccination in many individuals with behavioural disturbances and that specialist services may be available to facilitate the safe administration of vaccines in this population

ATAGI says chronic Covid-19 symptoms, aka “Long Covid”, are not a contraindication to Covid-19 vaccines “but do warrant a clinical discussion with the patient”.

“Pregnancy is not a valid reason for exemption in the absence of any of the criteria listed above,” ATAGI adds.

An adverse reaction to a previous dose of a Covid-19 vaccine is only considered “serious” if it meets three criteria:

***• It requires in-patient hospitalisation or prolongation of existing hospitalisation, results in persistent or significant disability/incapacity, or is potentially life-threatening

• It has been reported to a state/territory adverse event surveillance system and/or the Therapeutic Goods Administration

• It has been determined following review by, and/or on the opinion of, an experienced immunisation provider/medical specialist to be associated with a risk of recurrence of the serious adverse event if another dose is given...

There are many gun clubs now where you may own a gun (s) and keep them locked up there or in your own house. (subject to inspection)

I live here. My eyes have seen a lot more than you have. I pass my local gun shop every single day - a place many Americans have told me does not exist.

I'm sure you've encountered 'years of stories'. Many of them would have been just that. Stories.

I don't know. Why haven't all the heavily armed Americans on this site who insist your last election was stolen apparently not doing anything at all about that except bitch online?

But you are probably under a lot of misapprehensions about lockdowns in Australia as well - because again, people have deliberately tried to mislead Americans about that.

Seriously the US didn’t even make a real effort to lock down most of the US

What a coincidence. Most of Australia hasn't been locked down either. There were some places where that was true, and I'd be happy to go into detail about why those places did that when most of the country didn't (I live in one of those places, and I don't support the lockdowns, but I do understand why it happened here and not in other places.) Again, many Americans seem to have been lead to believe that things that happened in fairly limited areas of Australia were universal across the country. That isn't the case.

This absurd debacle over whether Novak Djokovic can enter Australia and play in the Australian Open despite being unvaccinated illustrates so much of the theater and bullshit embedded in COVID policy. There’s not an iota of science or public health driving any of this madness...

6 Jan: The Age, Australia: Letters from federal government cast doubt on Djokovic exemption
By Anthony Galloway and Paul Sakkal
Djokovic, who will mount a legal challenge to the last-minute rejection of his visa overnight, has been sent to a federal government quarantine facility in Melbourne.

According to multiple sources, the world No.1 men’s player applied for an exemption on the basis that he had contracted COVID-19 in the previous six months.

In a letter sent to Mr Tiley on November 18, Department of Health First Assistant Secretary Lisa Schofield said that “people who have previously had COVID-19 and not received a vaccine dose are not considered fully vaccinated”.

Ms Schofield said such people would “not be approved for quarantine-free entry, regardless of whether they have received foreign vaccination exemptions”...(LINK TO FULL LETTER-PDF)...

Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley took a swipe at the Commonwealth, saying the issuing of visa to world tennis No.1 Novak Djokovic was not the Victorian government’s responsibility.
“Someone issued Novak Djokovic a visa and it wasn’t the Victorian government,” Mr Foley said...

The aboriginals who are in remote communities were marched off to army camps by the Australian army in the name of a medical emergency, the emergency declaration was done because of the low vacc’nation rate in those communities.

With in a few weeks these aboriginal communities becamed 100% vaxed.....imagine the outrage if US had done anything like that.
