US could be under rightwing dictator by 2030, Canadian professor warns

The US could be under a rightwing dictatorship by 2030, a Canadian political science professor has warned, urging his country to protect itself against the “collapse of American democracy”.

“We mustn’t dismiss these possibilities just because they seem ludicrous or too horrible to imagine,” Thomas Homer-Dixon, founding director of the Cascade Institute at Royal Roads University in British Columbia, wrote in the Globe and Mail.

“In 2014, the suggestion that Donald Trump would become president would also have struck nearly everyone as absurd. But today we live in a world where the absurd regularly becomes real and the horrible commonplace.”

Homer-Dixon’s message was blunt: “By 2025, American democracy could collapse, causing extreme domestic political instability, including widespread civil violence. By 2030, if not sooner, the country could be governed by a rightwing dictatorship.”

The author cited eventualities centered on a Trump return to the White House in 2024, possibly including Republican-held state legislatures refusing to accept a Democratic win.

Trump, he warned, “will have only two objectives, vindication and vengeance” of the lie that his 2020 defeat by Joe Biden was the result of electoral fraud.

A “scholar of violent conflict” for more than four decades, Homer-Dixon said Canada must take heed of the “unfolding crisis”.

“A terrible storm is coming from the south, and Canada is woefully unprepared. Over the past year we’ve turned our attention inward, distracted by the challenges of Covid-19, reconciliation and the accelerating effects of climate change.

“But now we must focus on the urgent problem of what to do about the likely unraveling of democracy in the United States. We need to start by fully recognizing the magnitude of the danger. If Mr. Trump is re-elected, even under the more optimistic scenarios the economic and political risks to our country will be innumerable.”

Libertarians are people who just want to live their lives and be left alone. They are to the right of conservatives.

There are some who think they are libertarian, but are not by the definition of the world.

Classical liberals have moved into the libertarian camp.

We can agree to disagree about libertarians. Classical liberals are more conservatives than liberaltarians.

Those who claim to be libertarian, but are really socialist, are just liberals.
They want the freedom to do what they want, but they want everybody else to cover their behind for when their choices turn out to be bad ones.

Libertarian are classical liberals. Live as you wish, but take responsibility for yourself.

Indeed, they think violence.

Odd how they will not accept the election results of 2024 if Trump runs & wins. It is very important we wake-up, truly wake-up to the threat in front of us. It is important that we stop scoffing at all their legal challenges from New York to DC! No man is a saint and while President Trump has thwarted them legally at every turn, it will be just one straw that lights the fire.

We must take into account the level of mass psychosis of the left as well. These cities with bubbles of vaccine passports etc. are hotbeds of the psychosis. WE must account that they are and will be, living in an entirely different kind of United States by 2024. Their psychosis is spreading and every town has a few unwittingly like them.

But the violence, the authoritarianism will not come from us. We stand in resistance to it. The real question is how do we break their psychosis between now and 2024, because what has been done so far is not working.
