...The secret deal would have significantly increased the number of oil tankers docking and unloading in the Israeli resort city of Eilat. It was struck last year between the Europe-Asia Pipeline Company, the Israeli government-owned corporation, and MED-RED Land Bridge, a joint Israeli-Emirati venture, following the historic agreement establishing formal diplomatic ties...

...Senior officials in former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government — including his former energy, foreign and environment ministers — said they didn’t know about the deal until it was announced last year after the accords were signed at the White House.....

Interesting, Israel has only five ports, I believe.

We need more background on this.

Strange story. It’s only about 1000 miles from port to port. Nice scuba diving in the area and I’ve swam in the Red Sea many times from many different beaches. It’s beautiful.
But I’m sure they can protect the habitat. A pipeline would probably be more efficient.

Strange story.

Indeed, ... Israel is blessed by the natural beauty and functionality of her coastlines.

A pipeline would probably be more efficient.

Agreed , and easier in the long run, there is something behind the scenes here.

This was probably an effort to bypass the high tolls for passage through the Suez Canal.

Maybe they will have to run pipeline the whole way, through Saudi Arabia

They old Tapline (Trans Arabia Pipeline) might be able to be restored and extended.

Thanks, BeauBo, now it makes sense, this is about market and transportation costs. Standard Capitalist competition options.
