TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — Israel’s Environment Minister said Thursday a clandestine oil deal that would have turned a scuba divers’ paradise into a waypoint for Emirati oil headed for Western markets has effectively been blocked....

It was struck last year between the Europe-Asia Pipeline Company, the Israeli government-owned corporation, and MED-RED Land Bridge, a joint Israeli-Emirati venture, following the historic agreement establishing formal diplomatic ties...

Interesting, Israel has only five ports, I believe.

Strange story. It’s only about 1000 miles from port to port. Nice scuba diving in the area and I’ve swam in the Red Sea many times from many different beaches. It’s beautiful.
But I’m sure they can protect the habitat. A pipeline would probably be more efficient.

This was probably an effort to bypass the high tolls for passage through the Suez Canal.

Maybe they will have to run pipeline the whole way, through Saudi Arabia
