The United States is continuing to see a spike in COVID-19 cases and things don't seem to be slowing down any time soon.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new estimates on coronavirus cases Wednesday (December 29), which predict more than 44,000 Americans could die from the virus during the next month.
The CDC reports the death toll in relation to the virus has already increased by about 18%, with an average of 1,546 deaths per day, according to the data released by the agency.
The data also showed the U.S. hit a new seven-day average record of 277,000 new cases per day, which surpassed a previous record of 250,000 cases per day set in January.
Meanwhile, the CDC recently changed its guidance to shorten isolation for asymptomatic cases from 10 to five days this week.
"We know that the most amount of transmission occurs in those one to two days before you develop symptoms (to) those two to three days after you develop symptoms," CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky told CNN. "And if you map that out, those five days account for somewhere between 85% to 90% of all transmission that occurs."
The CDC is urging Americans to take caution during New Year's celebrations amid the continued rapid spread of COVID-19 cases, specifically the extremely contagious Omicron variant.
The agency suggests a small celebration at a friend's house in which all guests are vaccinated, boosted and have tested negative before attending the party, rather than a large indoor event.
Outdoor parties are viewed as being less risky, unless they include a large crowd of attendees.

I love Trump, but Fauci was his biggest mistake.
How will they know since the CDC already admitted their tests don’t distinguish between Covid and the flu?
The CDC is like the Climate Change Conspiracy Theory ... they make up the data to support their conspiracy theory as they go along.

This is actually a hypersensitivity, allergen induced, pulmonary pneumonitis; not a pneumonia. So, it is an allergic reaction occuring deep in the lung. It does affect the vascular system and the rest, but it is typically an allergic reaction occurring in the lung. That is the reason for the speed of evolution; anaphylaxis can occur very quickly.
Now, if you compare these two conditions, COVID pneumonia [and] pulmonary hypersensitivity pneumonitis, on X-Ray and High-Definition CT, with ground glass appearance that we see, both are identical; they cannot be told apart by X-Ray or CT.
So, I think we have been mis-diagnosing COVID pneumonia, as COVID pneumonia [when] we are dealing with a hypersensitivity pneumonitis.
So, I think that the perspective took precedent, rather than any medical intervention - to understand that we are dealing with a bi-phasic illness that is non-linear. The first and second phase have no correlation between each other. The second phase can be mild-moderate to severe, and I think that the distinction of severity should start on the eighth day, rather than from the first.
A majority of patients do not have this reaction and are not at risk of having a hypersensitivity. All the mortality and morbidity in this pandemic, resides at that part of the process - so the second phase is responsible for the mortality and morbidity.
So, to put it into context, the virus is like a bee, and the sting is the allergic reaction. So, we as a planet have been busy counting bees, chasing bees, and trying to kill bees; but we have not addressed the sting.
Patients that have been stung by this, are advised to go home and isolate and wait until they deteriorate. Unfortunately, by that time, you have multi-system disorder - you have damaged your body in many ways. And of course, presenting to a hospital is a bit late; and that negates the speed and aggression with having to address this.
And of course, a majority of doctors in the hospital are unaware that you have been stung by a bee. So the appropriate method of treating it, is not available to you there . . .

After they criticized pres. Trump for not acting perfectly when Covid struck, these geniuses NOW, two years in this nightmare, are completely lost!
There are shortages of tests, vaccines and medications!
By now, anybody of any clear mind would have enough of these stored!
And, there is practically NO further development. We are basically threading water using the same things this admin inherited from pres. Trump.
They should anticipate that the virus will mutate (they all do!) and have some more cards in the pockets by now!
