Los Angeles Covid Positivity Rate Soars As California Models Predict Hospitalization Surges Due To Omicron
Deadline ^ | 12/27

Posted on 12/27/2021 9:48:21 PM PST by Tipllub

Los Angeles County reported 7,425 new cases of Covid and nine additional deaths on Monday. But those numbers were artificially low due to reporting delays from the holiday weekend.

The region’s test positivity rate — which is considered a more accurate indication of infection spread because it is an average and also a percentage, rather than a raw number — told a different story.

Last Monday, L.A.’s 7-day average test positivity rate was 3.4%. Today, that same 7-day average has risen more than 300% to 12.4%. That’s a shockingly steep rise over the course of 8 days in a data point that is an average, not a raw number. The one-day numbers are equally shocking.

On December 20, the reported test positivity (for that day alone) was 8%. That number alone would have qualified it for the “Widespread” infections category in last winter’s guidelines issued by the State of California for county reopening.

By Sunday, however, the single-day test positivity rate had jumped to 26%. That’s among the highest, if not the highest, single-day test positivity rates of the pandemic. According to the L.A. County data dashboard, the only day that even comes close is December 26, 2020, at the absolute peak community transmission of the winter 2020 surge. Given the steepness of the trend line and the spread of Omicron, it is unlikely to dip in the next few days.

You get that answer by determining the predominance of Omicron in the infected population. This is done by genetic sequencing.

That is seldom or never done to individual cases.

So the answer to your question is to take the total daily death count and multiply it by the predominance extent. If you have 100 dead and predominance is now, say 30%, then 30 of them are likely Omicron deaths.

As the predominance rises to 90%+, then all of the death count would be Omicron.

We won’t get great measurements this week. Lots of clerks take the week off. Next Monday will be good death data. If you examine last winter’s numbers, the same holiday dip happens. The virus doesn’t take the week off, but the tabulators do.

In keeping with Stalin's dictum that it doesn't matter how many people get the sniffles - it matters who counts the sniffles (and if they're counted, and how they're counted, and...)

I don’t think anyone in South Africa has noted deaths there. In the UK....what, one death so far? This fear business is a joke.

7,425 new cases of Covid

Have they started digging the mass graves? If not, why not?

The pearl-clutching sheep are obsessed with Covid. They can’t get enough of masking and shots. It’s like meth to them. Or a religious cult.

If the infected are 65+, there will be many deaths. If not, there won't be.

So you believe that the common cold kills a lot of old people? Because it hasn't been happening that way so far. Omicron is a distant cousin of the CCP/Fauci Covid virus and not a direct descendant. It is a common cold that causes a false positive with the PCR tests.

And I’ll bet ya a dollar that Bob Goodell doesn’t have a contingency plan for moving the Super Bowl when Garcetti or Newsome put the kibosh on the the whole shootin match because it’s a super, super, spreader event.

Super Bowl will be held at Sofi Stadium...Sofi Stadium is in Inglewood, California...Not in City of Los Angeles...

Inglewood has its own city council...And Mayor...Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has no control over what happens in Inglewood...

Governor Newsome's appointees have not stopped any sporting events yet...

NBA games are going on in Downtown LA...Chargers game on 1/2 has not been cancelled...

People do have to show vaccination proof or negative COVID test result to get into the arenas or stadiums...

I do not believe that Newsome would not allow Super Bowl to take place in Inglewood...Super Bowl would help the economy of Los Angeles County...Remember, Newsome is running for his second term...The election is in November of next year...

Would he want to shut down businesses when he is running for reelection?

None. There was one reported death but that hospital said to claim the death said, no one.

#1 About 70 percent of patients pay zero dollars for healthcare. Why would they spend 20 dollars on over the counter meds etc, when they pay zero.
#2 after decades of testing for flu in the lab its like this.. once the first positive flu, strep or other test hits, they literally write the orders for everyone before seeing the paitients.
Thirdly, how many people around you boast i had the flu.. its like some special country club where only those who endured the near death horrors of their flu get to play. Most of these are in scenario one, racing to see if they get the first flu in their club. Maybe they get a tiara.
ER docs are ordering your labs amd following their evidenced based medicine. That doesn’t include listening to you.

If someone takes a home test, and it’s negative, do they report it? Of course not. Now if it’s positive what happens? Yhey go get another non-home test, inflating the
positivity rate.

CLASSIC picture. I wonder how many here recognize it, or the cultural dichotomy presented in it.

It’s actually OK to home test, and then just not inform the government of any positives. And stay away from others for a week. That’s what I did. My CCP virus symptoms lasted 2.5 days.
