African countries like the Democratic Republic of Congo are struggling with an influx of hospitalizations as the omicron-driven 4th wave of the global pandemic environment hammers the country, which boasts one of the world's lowest vaccination rates. But Congo isn't alone; over the weekend, American media reported that, after nearly two years of seeing surprisingly low COVID levels, sub-Saharan Africa is finally seeing a big enough wave of infections to pose a serious threat to its health-care system.
Experts in the US are projecting that the latest COVID wave will worsen before it gets better, according to the following chart from Fundstrat, which features projections and data from the CDC as well as various state-level public health departments.
As it shows, the peak should arrive around Jan. 9, with the number of new daily cases declining swiftly after that, tumbling to just under 40K new cases/day by Feb. 9.
Researchers at a university in Texas estimated that the peak of the omicron wave would likely land somewhere between Jan. 13 and Feb. 3, according to CNBC.
Last year's peak arrived on Jan. 11, according to data from Johns Hopkins.
And the number of deaths peaked on Jan. 13.
Even as hospitals across the US see the number of available beds fill up, deaths remain far lower than last year, a clear sign that Americans' levels of 'herd immunity' (a concept we haven't heard much about lately ever since scientists declared that COVID is likely now an endemic disease) have continued to improve, despite the virus's shifting nature.
This looks very much like a projection of the data that can be found at the CDC Covid Data site. Love them or hate them , it is still the best data we have.
If you check out the plots that compare infection rates and death rates for the vaccinated and unvaccinated who have Covid you will find:
1. Vaccinated people catch Covid in large numbers.
2. Unvaccinated people catch Covid at perhaps a 5 times higher rate.
3. It’s winter and infections are again on the rise.
4. BUT THE DEATH RATE CONTINUES TO FALL.
I think that only the government can keep this thing going. It wants to die off.
Also, if you want to avoid death just be under 50, vaccinated or not.
And what does the one true prophet of the Science, Lord Fasci, say about this?
Yeah, this next wave seems like it is going to be bad. Our previous highest testing positive rate was 13%. The last two days have been at 50% positive test rate. Thankfully hospitalization rate does not seem to be worsening, but now we have almost no MCA available and are waiting for the antiviral pills to arrive. If strategies continue to recommend asymptomatic testing there will be a default ‘shutdown’ just due to quarantining and loss of available staff.
Thankfully CDC reduced quarantine guidelines to 5 days, I’m assuming because they recognize that the highest number of people yet are going to get Covid-O
And yet the moronic atheist county executive adjacent to me just issued another “emergency” mask order.
My church is in that county. I won’t darken their doors wearing a mask. Athirsts should have no power over a church
I have a friend who's 80 year old father developed a bacterial infection in his L4 and L5 lumbar region that wasnt found until Christmas morning. The onset of pain and ultimately losing the ability to bend over and walk - the family took him to the hospital Christmas morning and luckily a specialist was on duty that morning. After a few MRI's and CAT scans they found the infection and operated immediately.
The doctor told my friend that he never saw this kind of infection before and instead of it being a liquid kind of thing that could be cut out, it was "clay like" and all over the muscles and bones in that area. It was so unusual that samples were sent to the CDC to be examined because whatever the heck it was couldnt be identified by the experts in the hospital.
He is now recovering but not in good shape.
Oh yea - the onset of this started six months after getting jabbed and got worse after getting the boost about a month ago.

Hospitals “filling up” does not mean all the beds are full. It means all the staffed beds are full. There is usually a significant difference between the two.

I just got covid—for me, it was no big deal. Just like a regular cold but with fever and one day of a lot of sleeping. Glad I have antibodies now. I recovered in 2.5 days.

That’s a BS number as well. In the hospitals where I know the number, no one was fired for that. And nationally, the number is tiny.

Sure it will. That’s why the CDC intentionally left the PCR test in place until December 31, when it’s supposed to be starting to phase out. That perfectly aligns with this predicted timeline. In other words, it’s fake.

That is great news that you recovered. I good friend of mine got diagnosed after feeling poorly for a day. He actually took Ivermectin and was 80% better the next day and continues to feel even better. Will be nice to have natural immunity.
