Maybe hire better officers
Yeah, ... Officers of the Court ...
This was a horrific mistake in the heat of the moment brought about because a criminal was not complying.
As to your suggestion to hire better officers my reflex is to agree. However, police are humans and there have been many cases where it can be argued the officers actions were reasonable and their lives were ruined anyways. Look at the officers with Chauvin in Minneapolis who more or less followed his department training and policy no matter how bad it looked.
Good luck getting good people to take such a job. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t if it fits the narrative of the left.
I am sorry for her. It was obviously unintentional but I think the real lesson throughout the country is just let non-compliant minority people go when they do not cooperate.
Why bother?
You deserve refunded police.
I thought the Rittenhouse verdict would be the example but the jury got it right. Everyone cheered for the justice system and how well it works. The reality is we got lucky, period.
This officer did not commit a crime. She and the police dept. should be civilly liable but no criminal charges should have ever been brought. Our justice system does NOT work and needs a complete overhaul from the top down. DAs cannot be elected politicians. Jurors cannot be randomly selected from a pool of largely unqualified citizens. There should be no mandatory sentencing of any kind. I could go on and on but today should be a wake up call. Our system is utterly broken.
The defense in this case should organize an unrelenting movement to pressure the Governor to immediately grant a full pardon to this officer.
Tragic for many reasons. Not the least hiring individuals not suited to the profession. Not being able to distinguish taser from side arm under pressure is difficult to excuse.
So why aren’t you a police officer?
Beneath you?
“Maybe hire better officers”
This verdict insures that no one will apply. You couldn’t pay me enough to be a police officer in Minnesota, or any blue state for that matter.
I’m sure the jury was considering “race riots” in the city if they didn’t convict. This verdict was a classic example of Mob Rule. Wait until the jury discovers Wright’s long criminal background. I hope they are ashamed of themselves. Although I doubt it.
Are you serious? ALL of this is on the damn thug who fought the cops, he SHOULD have had his head blown off. I’m sorry, but when a perp resists arrest that cops life is put in danger and that cop should have a RIGHT to take lethal action. How do you know the person resisting doesn’t pull a knife or gun next and kill the cop? This 100% political and just to prove it, watch what will happen to Alec Baldwin for doing the same thing: NOTHING.
Agreed. This woman was a clear diversity hire and incapable of police work.
