AURORA, CO – Losing a child is difficult, regardless of age.

Often grieving families turn not only to legal recourse, but also civil lawsuits against those responsible.

However, in a case out of Colorado, the grieving family who lost their teenager who fell out of a stolen vehicle which ran him over is seeking civil relief from the victim of the car theft.

The incident when the teenager was killed occurred on October 18th in Aurora, Colorado at Village Green Park.

The Aurora Police Department reports that 14-year-old Kashontez Grigler was riding as a passenger in a van which was stolen by his girlfriend.

Grigler was allegedly hanging on the front of the stolen minivan and fell off, causing the stolen vehicle to run over him. The girlfriend and driver of the stolen van took off on foot but later returned to the scene.

Kashontez’s father, Kasseem Grigler, spoke about the enormous loss of his son:

“It’s hard to cope. We haven’t had his funeral services yet. Until we can get that under control, it’s going to be hard to move on…It hurts, it’s hurting all of us.”

Kasseem said that Kashontez’s girlfriend, the one who allegedly stole the van, is also hurting over what he terms as an accident. He said:

“She [the girlfriend] was my son’s homecoming date. It’s not even easy for her. They were friends and it was an accident.”

“The girlfriend and driver of the stolen van took off on foot but later returned to the scene.”

Is this faulty reporting or was there a third person?

We should have DNA tests at birth to euthanize such stupid people.

Parents should sue themselves for raising a dope. Good riddance.

“She [the girlfriend] was my son’s homecoming date. It’s not even easy for her. They were friends and it was an accident.”

Wonderful! the boy feral’s date steals a vehicle for the HS homecoming, runs over the boy feral, her best friend, but the boy feral’s dad feels sad for the girl feral, calls it an accident, and is suing the owner of the vehicle.

These people are just making the case for their well-deserved stereotypical stupidity

Don’t forget the gasoline manufacturer! Without gasoline, none of this would have ever happened!

A key aspect of the story...
Grigler was allegedly hanging on the front of the STOLEN minivan and fell off, causing the STOLEN vehicle to run over him. The girlfriend and driver of the STOLEN van took off on foot...

The grieving family should go after the car manufacturer. After all, they have deeper pockets, and people want to sue gun manufacturers for the results of gun violence, so car manufacturers should be responsible for the results of car violence.

Some girlfriend! I’m guessing some lowlife ambulance chasing lawyer discovered that the owner of the van had great insurance coverage and/or deep pockets.

Some greedy plaintiff lawyer might take the case

... and some goofy-arse judge might actually hear it
... and as for a jury ... well ...

How would the little car thieves have known that the keys were in the car unless they were looking inside of cars to find one to steal? Certain groups in America cannot seem to accept responsibility for their own actions and must always have a scapegoat to blame.

Yeah, it’s like people who have pools in their backyards and when kids sneak in and then drown they’re the ones held responsible, not the trespassers.

It’s called and attractive nuisance - and they’ll use this in that case.

It was too tempting for the thieves to resist.

The van had a girlfriend? And the deceased took the same girl to the prom?
Sounds like a fatal love triangle.
The van should be charged with vehicular homicide.
I don’t mean to make light of a tragedy, I agree, it’s very poorly written.
And I’m no English scholar, and ain’t never gonna be one, neither!

"Am I the only one confused by how poorly written this piece was?"

No. This is an attempt at creative writing not reporting.

“You shouldn’t leave your keys in the car. You have teens walking up and down the street and that could be a liability.”

As crazy as this sounds, it is the law that you must secure your property against theft. Heck, if you leave a ladder propped up on your house and some idiot climbs up it and falls off, said idiot can sue the homeowner. Our courts have decreed that stupidity should not come with any consequences aside for the consequences of those who become victims of the stupid.
