Bette Midler has come under fire from both conservatives and liberals after she tweeted that Senator Joe Manchin ‘wants us all to be just like his state, West Virginia…poor, illiterate, and strung out.’ She infuriated thousands with her snobbish missive which said: 'What #JoeManchin, who represents a population smaller than Brooklyn, has done to the rest of America, who wants to move forward, not backward, like his state, is horrible. He sold us out. He wants us all to be just like his state, West Virginia. Poor, illiterate and strung out.'
Criticism for Midler's high-handed comments quickly poured in from both conservatives and liberals. Mike Schlossberg, a Democratic state legislator from Pennsylvania, criticized Midler, tweeting: 'Respectfully: This isn't helping. "I AM SMARTER THAN YOU SO AGREE WITH ME" has never convinced anyone. Ever.'
Another Twitter user wrote to Midler: 'You suck as a person.'

Another Twitter user wrote: 'This is just a simple reminder of how the "elite" feel about normal Americans. She isn't the only one but rather a representative of many. Remember this when you think about voting blue next time around.'
'Just stop...when was the last time that you were here? I am glad that he voted against this massive spending bill, and so are the majority of the WV people. How many people have you met from WV? Enough with the stereotypes.' another Twitter user wrote.
A Twitter user who identified herself as Jane Donovan wrote: 'Bette, that's not fair. West Virginia is full of good people who work hard and take care of each other. Dealing in stereotypes doesn't help.
Another angry Twitter user wrote: 'I have lived in WV my entire life. I have two college degrees and a well-paying job. My husband owns a successful small business. We are homeowners and don't use drugs. Bette is using politics as an excuse to be hateful.'
So...here’s what Bette’s response was which IMO was no better than the outburst:
Midler, later apologized for the tweet, which she attributes to ‘seeing red’ over Manchin’s decision not to support Biden’s social spending plan, with that opposition effectively killing the huge bill.
‘I apologize to the good people of WVA for my last outburst. I’m just seeing red; #JoeManchin and his whole family are a criminal enterprise. Is he really the best WV has to offer its own citizens? Surely there’s someone there who has the state’s interests at heart, not his own!’
(AHHH! Typical liberal rant who cannot see past their nose, which in her case is pretty far off.)
Other than massive (now sagging) boobs and a barroom bellow, what exactly qualifies this ignorant cow to comment on anything?
I actually agree with her. Surely there's a Conservative who can run for this WV senate seat?

‘It’s not the president,’ Manchin said. ‘It’s the staff. And they drove some things and they put some things out that were absolutely inexcusable. They know what it is. And that’s it.’ He said he was at his ‘wit’s end’ but he didn’t specify what exactly drove him to that point.
Manchin also had tough words for Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi. ‘They figured surely to God we can move one person. Sure that we can badger and beat one person up. Surely we can get enough protestors to make that person uncomfortable enough they’ll just say ‘okay I’ll vote for anything’ just quit. I’m from West Virginia. I’m not from where they’re from and they can’t just beat the living crap out of people and think they’ll be submissive. Period.’
Get used to it Midler. There is a lot more red coming ...
True, would be nice for a conservative to be in that position, but we must give credit where credit is due. He didn’t march goose-step to the liberal drum. Thank God!

Bette Midler could not tell you what is in the legislation....she is ignorant and only supports it because it came from “her” party.

I’ve said this many times here on FR... Bette Midler is a garden variety bi-polar; it doesn’t matter what she says. Her condition is the reason she stopped getting work, decades ago. As an aside, all normal men need to run away from lefty Jewish redheads. YIKES! Ask me how I know!
Think about it. Manchin is not the only senator who refused to vote for the bill: he’s just the only Democrat who refused to vote yea for it. All the rest of the senators who refused to vote for it are Republicans who are theoretically conservative or at least not wild-eyed liberals.
Ok, curiosity got the best and I will ask. Are you a leftist, Jewish, red-head? ;>)

The first time I personally saw this was when I read an Op-Ed in the WaPo complaining about ignorant fundamentalists opposing something or other... back in the last century.

So she managed to enter University of Hawaii to study drama l, but then left without a degree, but then she thinks she’s smarter than the people of West Virginia? On what planet is that?
She’s a third rate actress at best.
Better Midler should be ignored like most of those morons in Hollywood...
