Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) hit back at White House staff Monday and warned that Democrats had miscalculated by thinking that they could pressure him into backing President Biden's spending plan.
"They figured surely to God we can move one person. We surely can badger and beat one person up. Surely we can get enough protesters to make that person uncomfortable enough that they'll just say, 'OK I'll vote for anything,'" he said in a local radio interview.
"Well, guess what? I'm from West Virginia. I'm not from where they're from and they can just beat the living crap out of people and think they'll be submissive, period," Manchin added.
Manchin's comments, made during a radio interview with West Virginia MetroNews's Hoppy Kercheval, come after he sent a jolt through Washington, D.C., on Sunday by announcing that he would not vote for the sweeping roughly $2 trillion climate and spending bill that was passed by the House earlier this year.

When it comes to that bunch I’m pretty sure God is not something they’re interested in.
There are probably a dozen Democrats in the Senate who don't want to vote for that "Build Bozo Better" nonsense, including Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer. But in order to con their voters into thinking they actually DO support it, they'll let all the blame for its failure fall on the guy who represents a state Biden lost by almost 40 points.
If you can't bring yourself to join the Republican Party at the very least announce that you're an Independent who will caucus with the Republicans.
You can do that in an instant ... "that" being neutralize Comrade Harris in the Senate. Do it, Joe. Do it for your country and for all those American patriots in West Virginia!
Manchin caved on the Trump impeachment votes. Surely they thought they could get him to cave on this.
Joe will come around… he has family… he is going to be sent a message for his “disobedience.”

Honestly I think Manchin is going to run in 2024... I think he’s been setting himself up as the “voice of reason” for a while now in the Dem party that has become completely beholden to its radical left wing...

I agree. We don’t need him in our party, but if more folks like him were in the dem party, our nation would at least have more of a fighting chance to stem the tide of corruption at least a little bit. Sure, he’s ultra liberal mostly, but he has shown he has at ,east z partial spine when standing up for things he supports (though he has in th3 past folded over znd over- good to see him at ,east standing firm on this issue)
