But suppose the whole was larger 100 years ago?? And is actually smaller now.

These idiots can't even do basic volumetric computations. If 100% of that ice shelf melted to water tomorrow (which no one is claiming) it would not raise sea levels by even a cm.

Thanks for this. I would love to see their mathematics for how the global oceans will rise by ‘at least a foot’. As you noted, that would take a serious number of cubic miles of water. Even then, as the oceans grow in height, more surface is exposed meaning even more volume is required to keep it rising. It’s not linear.

Let me think about that.... Ice is floating - then it melts and joins the rest of the Ocean. When water freezes to become ice the volume expands somewhat. So when ice melts it will take up less volume. The Ocean level will drop. Oh - my now what will we do????

The newest mantra from the handwringing bedwetting left. I bet I've heard this news from several different liberal sources this past weekend.

I don’t think this is a huge deal either, but you are missing a key point. The ice is not currently sitting in the ocean. It’s about to fall into the ocean. That will displace some volume. For a while.
Something that big is going to cool some water. And that cold water is going to circulate, cooling down other stuff.
That’s how the earth seems to work. We are not going to change that.
