I turn 40 today, and I was planning to have a party. The Delta surge made me nervous about it. The arrival of Omicron made me cancel it.
The plan was to have an extended house party, with a couple dozen people popping by over the weekend. On the one hand, it would have been an unmasked, indoor event—the kind in which the coronavirus, in all its incarnations, spreads most easily. On the other hand, everyone who was going to be there is fully vaccinated, and most of them, myself included, have been boosted. A month ago, I would have felt comfortable about that trade-off, especially if people got tested in the preceding days, as eight friends did when they came over for Thanksgiving.

Imagine if people fretted this much over the possibility of catching a cold… we would call them hypochondriacs - and rightly so.
Yet, Covid19 has proved to be no different than any other mild cold.
Some of us have known Covid was just another coronavirus all along - or at least after a few weeks.
It’s not because we were virology experts, or were able to peer into the future. It is simply because the worst case scenarios did not materialize, and some of us can recognize when we are being lied to.
The huge disconnect between a terrifyingly fast-moving deadly contagion, as seen in the movies - and this symptom-free coronavirus, so mild you need a test to figure out if you even had it… - became quickly apparent to many of us.
Another tell was the blatant politicization of Covid19. The Democrats obviously wanted this to be Trump’s “Katrina”. The media and every Democrat you knew were exaggerating the numbers and offering up anecdotal evidence of so s brother-in-law’s cousin that died of it.
Trump hating Democrats that worked in hospitals spoke of the overcrowding morgues and how they had to set up refrigerator trucks to handle all the corpses.
Republicans that worked in the same hospitals told of completely empty wings and zero covid cases.
As for the very old and very sick, hospitals were paid handsomely to assign Covid as the cause of death - in order to drive up the death count. Who couldn’t see through that scam?
I’m amazed how easily brainwashed people were - and still are - even here on FR.

I wish the same, but the reality is, just the opposite is happening. With the internet and the ability to work from home, they’re moving out of those high-rises and into the suburbs and country towns. Safe neighborhoods, most, based on traditional Conservatives foundations. And what does Ed Yong and those like him do, they destroy them. Pretty soon they’re triggered seeing American flags on the street poles. They don’t like seeing the Christmas decorations. They get on the local councils and school boards and slowly chip away at everything.

Talking with family member who works as nurse.....says these shots are creating more health issues than they’re preventing. She does not advise taking them as do many of the Dr’s. she knows. But they don’t say it “Out Loud” because they can get canned for doing so.
