When I think back on the depression era, WWWII and the hardshops suffered... it’s amazing what those who made it went through. Well into 1960s... then their own offspring heaped more insult upon their parents heads.

My wife was born in another country and can remember times when she didn’t have enough to eat as a kid. That leaves a mark, a really good one or a really bad one. She has the good mark, amazing faith and gratitude.
To think this author is spending time today, over a latte, in emails and texts probably, waxing poetic and talking about this article, getting emotional responses from friends and colleges about how moved they were by it, sharing similar experiences.
It’s like a whole other world, a silly, pretend world.
A lot of people, when they have everything they need and don’t have to really work for it, will create drama to feel like their lives have purpose. Plenty of people with “mailbox money”, the people who are born never having to work, live lives that support that theory, I’ve seen.
