RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A German cardinal has claimed that the coronavirus pandemic has been used by the likes of George Soros and Bill Gates to create a global “surveillance state.”
Gerhard Ludwig Mueller, a high-ranking Vatican court judge, has said in an interview with Austria’s St. Boniface Institute last week that the Covid-19 pandemic has caused “chaos” and “confusion” stemming not only from a “lack of knowledge” about the transmissibility and danger of the virus itself but from the willingness of the super-rich to “seize the opportunity to lure people in.”

The world’s financial elites are now using the pandemic and the measures taken by governments in the supposed aim of ‘combating the spread of the virus, to subject people to “total control” and establish a global “surveillance state”, Mueller added.
St. Boniface released a video showing a small part of the interview, and the cardinal has since confirmed to German news agency DPA that the footage is genuine.
“People, who sit on the throne of their wealth” see an “opportunity to push their agenda,” the cardinal said, naming Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, billionaire George Soros and Davos Economic Forum head Klaus Schwab among those behind the global control scheme.
The cardinal then accused the global financial elites of an attempt to give birth to “a new man” created “in their image and likeness,” adding that he would not wish such a fate for himself.
“That has nothing to do with democracy,” said the former bishop of Regensburg, who once headed the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
The cardinal’s statements, which recently appeared in the media, provoked a wave of criticism from the German media, which quickly branded his words as “conspiracy theories.”
Some experts invited by the German magazine Der Spiegel and other media said his words could be interpreted as a comparison between the actions of the current government and those of the Nazis, whose crimes would thus be “trivialized.” They also said that the mere mention of Soros in such a context could be seen as anti-Semitic.
The Vatican has not commented on Mueller’s statements. The German Bishops’ Conference initially only noted his call to get vaccinated. Later, conference spokesman Matthias Kopp said on Twitter that he was astonished by Mueller’s words and added that the cardinal made such statements “as a private person.”
Mueller himself told DPA in an email that he rejects the logic according to which anyone who “criticizes the financial elite … is automatically on the wrong side.” He also pointed again to the “illegitimate influence” exerted by “super-rich elites in various countries.”
Now, watch Pope Francis pressure this cleric into ‘apologizing’ for telling the hard truth.
If he refuses to walk back those remarks, he will suddenly be reassigned to a different post, one will little visibility and even less influence. We all know how this Pope rolls when it comes to Globalism.

I remember when Benedict XVI first appointed Mueller to a high position in the Vatican, there was concern among conservatives/traditionalists that one or another thing that Mueller had written was somehow “off” and, like most of his Kraut brother bishops, was probably a liberal. This is one of those rare cases where the alleged lib heretic turned out not to be.
He’s right.
