COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Ohio Senate has approved a bill that eliminates the requirement for a concealed weapons permit.

The legislation, sponsored by state Sen. Terry Johnson, a Republican from southern Ohio’s Scioto County, would also end the requirement that individuals inform police officers that they’re carrying a concealed weapon.

Let’s see how far this goes. ‘Tis the season to put up bills to be vetoed. That allows RINOs to safely run in the next election, but you’ll never hear about this again. Yeah, I am jaded.

The prudent policy is assuming everyone you meet has a natural right to self defense, may have a concealed weapon, and do nothing to antagonize anyone. When acting in a legal capacity to question , confront,or stop a person be prepared to respond appropriately should the other person be armed.

Politeness and respect with situational awareness.

"49 state to go..."

Ohio's gov needs to sign the bill for it to become law. Governor DeWine is pro-2A but it is unclear if he supports Constitutional Carry legislation. His office told the Ohio Capitol-Journal that he has not yet taken an official position on the issue.

The PA House and Senate recently passed Constitutional Carry legislation - only to be vetoed by it commie democrat governor.

This is one topic DeSantis in FL hasn’t weighed in on. Surprised he hasn’t. We need an open carry law down here in FL.

Might not matter. The House Bill passed 60-32 (65%). The Senate bill passed 23-8 (74%).

Both bills passed with more than enough of the 3/5th majority needed to override a veto. I’m not even sure if the Governor can Veto a super majority or not. However, since DeWine looks like he wants to be reelected, he better sign it.

The laws have to be unified & get a final vote anyway. They shouldn’t lose any votes in the process.

Next move: Eliminate the ‘temporary’ state income tax foisted on us By Gilligan 50 years ago!

It is Open Carry. It’s rare to see it in Cleveland, but lots of CCW licenses in the county. Even though you have to wait up to a year to get one issued by Cuyahoga county (Cleveland). You can get one issued by any adjacent county surrounding your home county. I got my first one from Geauga County. The last one I renewed this year in Summit county. Walked in, took 10 minutes, no appointment necessary. Five weeks later, the new license was sent to my home in the mail.

It’s not difficult to get. Just have to pay to take a class. They can cost hundreds of dollars. Once you take the clkass & pass the test, you never need take it again.

Getting rid of any requirements makes us freer I’m all for it.

Nothing. I’ve been pulled over once while carrying. I told the officer I had my pistol in a holster between my seats. All he said was, “hey, thanks for telling me” I’ve had people tell me that the police have asked them if they are carrying before they ask anything else.

The police KNOW before they get out of their car weather or not you have a CCL. They always run the plates first.

This was just a way to ‘get’ someone if they forgot to tell an officer soon enough abut a gun.

You are so right, my darling FRiend.

In the United States, the term constitutional carry, also called permitless carry, unrestricted carry, or Vermont carry, refers to the legal public carrying of a handgun, either openly or concealed, without a license or permit.

An armed society is a polite society.
