Had to look that up as it didn’t make any sense - born and raised in Southern CA, went to college in Southern CA and he was elected to represent a district in Northern CA? Read what I could find but it still didn’t make sense. How weird!! Don’t see him described as a “carpetbagger.”
Wouldn’t the districts have covered more geography back then because the size of the district is controlled by population?
The Twelfth CD was originally in Southern California. it included much of the San Gabriel Valley, the Pomona-Walnut Valley and Whittier but moved steadily north with each redistricting.
