The activist made the comments in June 2020, amid racial justice protests around the country sparked by the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. A criminal complaint against Burns cited his on-air remarks, as well as others he made around the same time while rapping on Facebook Live.
Burns was cuffed after he went on the conservative news network and threatened to burn down the Diamond District if Mayor de Blasio and then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo didn’t speak to a crowd gathered at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
“If they don’t, then [the] next stop is the Diamond District,” he said. “And gasoline, thanks to Trump, is awfully cheap. So we’re giving them a chance right now to do the right thing.”
He also pointed to the letters “FTP” drawn on his arm.
“That can mean ‘free the people,’ it can mean ‘for the people,’ it can also mean ‘fire to property.’ And that’s very possible,” he said.
“I know what a Molotov cocktail is, you don’t want it to go that way,” Burns said in one video. “We ain’t started yet, the real hitters they coming at night. We gonna protect the middle ground or we gonna burn it down.”
His attorney said they were merely politically charged rap lyrics.
Burns was charged with making terroristic threats and falsely reporting an incident.

It means F the police. I discovered this accidentally when discussing File Transfer Protocol. Sure enough a twitter search shows that's how people use it now.
If one of us went on CNN and threatened to burn down some black owned business area, we’d be held in jail until we are prosecuted, found guilty and imprisoned for about ten years.
The Fix is in. Meanwhile back in the jails for alleged Jan. 6th rioter/protestors, not a damn thing is being done to drop any charges.
How about if some white-robed and/or jack-booted "rappers" were to come over to his house at night and burn a cross illuminate a religious artwork in his front yard while chanting rapping the Horst Wessel Lied "politically-charged" lyrics?
How would he like that?
