All laws are based on someone’s idea of morality.
Before Roe was ruled on states like New York offered legal abortions.
Does a democrat have moral value?
If the argument is about self-awareness or viability, is a newborn self-aware or viable?
Can a newborn understand the world around it? Can it survive on it’s own?
If not, why the shock and outrage when a newborn is found in a dumpster abandoned like yesterday’s trash?
I think the argument is best kept at “human life” which seems 100% self-evident, to me.
“Self-awareness” REALLY opens the door to philosophical mumbo-jumbo. Who can say? Why is that the test? Who made that rule?
Viability? Think of a seagull flying over your house. If I put that seagull a mile below the surface of the Atlantic, is it viable? I don’t think so. But isn’t that a stupid thing for me to say? The seagull was just flying over your house! Of course it’s viable!! But just the same, the 5-week-old fetus may not be “viable” if you place it on a table — but why does that matter? If you leave it in the mother’s uterus, it’s perfectly viable. Why engage in silly hypotheticals? The fetus is viable — right up until the moment some Progressive decides to kill it. Stick scissors through its skull, and it’s not so viable. But that’s murder.
A conscience? A soul?
Exactly, but those are the arguments the baby killers turn to when they lose the very clear definition of when does a unique life begin. It’s too obvious: a self-replicating, unique DNA.
When they lose one argument, they invent another.
Forget talking to Justice Sotomayor. Her decision will be from feelings, not from the law. And so it will be from the other liberals on the court. They forget their oath when it comes to issues like abortion. They only remember how they feel.
She doesn’t have any children and was never pregnant.
My comment had nothing to do with the article. It was a commentary about that horrible, female, leftist jurist.
