Are they saying they couldn’t tell the difference between blanks and live ammunition by looking at it? This whole story is becoming surreal.
Right!? What good is an armorer if they can’t differentiate ammunition? This was negligence in their part. No production team will cut safety corners after this this.

it doesn’t absolve anyone on set of their responsibilities regarding checking and clearing the rounds being used in the firearms
From my reading journalists are using the terms "blanks" and "dummy" rounds interchangeably. They are not the same, blanks usually have crimped cases which are easy to tell from live rounds while dummy rounds are just that, made to look like live rounds for filming a revolver pointed toward the camera to make it look like the pistol is loaded. Dummy rounds contain no powder and often have holes drilled in the side of the case for quick identification. My take is that Baldwin's revolver had dummy rounds and at least one live round accidentally loaded in the cylinder.
It is quite easy to tell the difference between blanks and live ammunition. It is considerably more difficult to tell the difference between dummy rounds and live ammunition.
It is my understanding they were using dummy rounds.
I would like to see a live and a blank or ‘prop’ round next to each other.
Surely they are not similar.
Yeah, I don’t get the “suspected live rounds.” It’s bloody obvious if it’s a live round just by looking at it.
