OAKLAND, Calif. - An armed security guard protecting a local news crew on Wednesday afternoon was shot during an attempted robbery in Oakland, police said.
The shooting was reported about 12:30 p.m. in the 300 block of 14th and Webster streets in downtown Oakland.

My cousin works on film crews in Chicago. They never go out without armed security. Usually a lot of it.
More for the replacement cost of the equipment than the crew itself

How do you distinguish between a California citizen’s right to redistribute a store’s wealth by taking merchandise and not paying for it and an illegal robbery?

This needs to STOP and it should be a Major Felony to have anyone in your employ or employed on your behalf for the purpose of security or protection, to be in possession of ANY Weapon. YOU have a Right to defend yourself but you do NOT and should NOT have ANY right to HIRE A GUN!!!
