Following the departures of Jonah Goldberg and Stephen Hayes from Fox News, a new report says the network has seen a significant level of an internal dispute over the conspiracy theories espoused by Tucker Carlson.
New York Times media columnist Ben Smith reported on Sunday that Goldberg and Hayes walked out because of Patriot Purge, Carlson’s 3-part Fox Nation docuseries about the storming of the U.S. Capitol. Fact-checkers and media commentators have been tearing Patriot Purge to shreds for boosting known propagandists and advancing unsubstantiated claims about January 6th.
NPR’s David Folkenflik reported on this development new details that had not yet been known: Senior Fox News figures voiced their own concerns about the dubious claims advanced by Patriot Purge and Fox’s opinion side. The report states that Bret Baier and Chris Wallace went as far as raising their objections to the network’s leaders.
The piece goes on to illustrate how Fox’s news division aired segments that distanced themselves from Carlson’s claims. Carlson declined to comment on that when reached by NPR, but he mocked Goldberg and Hayes over their leave-taking, saying it “will substantially improve the channel.”
“These are two of the only people in the world who still pretend the Iraq war was a good idea,” Carlson said. “No one wants to watch commentary that stupid.”
A Fox executive said the network had no intention of re-signing Steve Hayes or Jonah Goldberg when their contracts came up in 2022.

I stopped right there. I have stopped listening to or reading anything coming from loudmouth moronic blacks or hate-filled Jews.
Sorry, I’ve had with liars.
When Wallace comes on Fox news, I turn it off or to another channel.
If Bret has joined Wallace on ANYTHING, Bret has jumped the sahrk and I will no longer trust anything he says.
‘Tucker must be on the right track.’
TRUTH is on the RIGHT track - Tucker has just started to follow it most of the time...for the right reason...we will see?!
If Tucker’s report is a bunch of whooey, then why are 2 FNC contributors resigning not to mention the whining from Bret and Chris??
It is something else.
Over the target, taking flak.
Nice job, Tucker.
It’s no surprise that Baier and Wallace can’t handle the truth. It’s time all truth seekers stop watching these clowns and send FOX a msg. in their pocket book.
Wallace is a big reason I turned Fox off. He makes my skin crawl. Add to that Cavuto, Juan, Shep (now gone of course), and some of the Obamists they hired to make it “balanced”, it became for me unwatchable.
Tucker is the only program worth watching. If only I didn’t have to tune into Fox to get him.
They have to keep the January 6th “insurrection” myth going for another 2 years so they can use it against Trump if/when he runs again.
There is no excuse, none, zip, nada, zilch for keeping January 6th protesters in jail without bail for 10 months.
None of them were violent, none of them are flight risks, and none of them have been charged with anything beyond trespassing.
But they also must be demonized in order to keep the January 6th issue alive to use against Trump.
Brett was part of the original ambush of Trump during the debates. I can’t watch him.
And, Jan 6 is how they excuse burning 30 cities. It’s their “yeah, but…”.
They could have resigned and become heroes to the left.
But where is the profit in that?
I haven’t kept close track on this. Is the doc accurate? That’s really all that’s important. Is it true?
Brett is literally a token.
shocked???
I could have told you that just by your screen name.
There may be some factoids here, but as soon as I saw NPR, my eyes glazed over. It sounded like FOX was canning these two clowns in 2022 anyway, but Tucker gets the credit for the "purge".
Bret was “flat” when substituting for Chris Wall-Ass on Sunday. Very poor, flat, dry performamce.
They should point out where Carlson is wrong, and why...Be specific.
Late to the party just got home from working all night.
Maybe they will both quit and we can have a party?
