I do think one of the really big lessons is that when we reach out to Bad Places — hoping to show them the light, and draw them out to be more like us — the result is that we become more like them.

I’m an isolationist. I believe in autarky. I’d like us to focus on our Constitution, put our head down, try to be make us be like us, and let the world do whatever it’s going to do.

Between China and the EPA Nixon hosed the US. All with good intentions, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
And here we are.
