The conservative House Freedom Caucus has elected Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) as chairman of the group, replacing Rep. Andy Biffs (R-Ariz.), who was term-limited.
“For the past six years, I have stood shoulder to shoulder with the men and women of the Freedom Caucus as we have tirelessly fought to hold the line to promote liberty, safety and prosperity for Americans,” Perry said in a statement on Monday evening. “I am grateful to continue to carry the torch for these champions of freedom.”
Biggs will serve as chairman of the group until Jan. 1, which is when his current term expires. The caucus, founded in 2015, is composed of some of the most conservative members of the lower chamber of Congress.
Other potential candidates for the position were Reps. Warren Davidson (R-Ohio) and Ralph Norman (R-S.C.). The House Freedom Caucus said in a release that Perry has been with the group since it was founded.
Biggs said in a statement that it has been an “honor and privilege to lead this fierce group, as we battled to secure our border, restore fiscal sanity and protect Americans’ liberties in the wake of government overreach.”
“Since the establishment of the House Freedom Caucus Scott Perry has been an essential voice. I am confident that he will continue to hold the establishment accountable and demand that Republicans ‘do what they said they would do.’”
Perry represents Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District and serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee.
On July 23, the caucus called on House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to attempt to oust Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) from her speaker position, suggesting that Republicans are growing increasingly dissatisfied with Pelosi’s leadership after she ousted Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Jim Banks (R-Ind.) from a select committee created to investigate the Jan. 6 Capitol breach.
Days later, the group took an official position against critical race theory (CRT), saying it won’t approve any spending bill that doesn’t defund federal employee training programs based on the Marxism-rooted ideology.
“CRT training, which teaches that America is [a] fundamentally racist country and that individuals, by virtue of their race, are inherently racist or oppressive, is a direct violation of federal law,” said the group.
More recently, on Monday, the House Freedom Caucus held a hearing to analyze and discuss the Biden administration’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
Not that there's anything wrong with Lloyd Smucker.
Pennsylvania Ping!
Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
Here’s hoping the Freedom Caucus triples in ‘22.
Strange how they misspelled Andy Biggs name wrong.
Strange how they misspelled Andy Biggs name wrong.A rose is still a rose by any other name.
I thought maybe “Biffs” was his frat nickname long time ago.
But where’s the list of the House Freedom Caucus’ accomplishments?
Here’s hoping the Freedom Caucus triples in ‘22.

What are there...40 members? I applaud every one of them but that’s a small minority of GOP seats (only 18%). Says a lot about the GOP. It’s not a truly conservative party, and never will be.
But where’s the list of the House Freedom Caucus’ accomplishments?

Maybe a better question to ask is why doesn’t the GOP embrace their agenda, which would lead to more accomplishments? I think we know why.
Same here. We hated losing Scott when the State Supreme Court unilaterally redistricted him away from us in Adams County. He’s a fierce and unyielding fighter, and will stand firm against both Pelosi and the RINO backstabbers in the conference.
Are they Pro MAGA, or NeverTrumpers?
That’s really all that matters
What’s the matter with the name “Biff”, butt head?

I wrote him earlier today when I heard of his new position and asked him to encourage other members of the Freedom Caucus to push for the removal of Cheney and Kinzinger, et.al, from the Republican Caucus. Additionally, I asked for a commitment that he would not vote for McCarthy as speaker when Republicans take back the House next year. I fully realize monetary consequences for his campaign by taking such a position. It really all boils down to whether Perry is bought and paid by the establishment or not. I don't know for sure, but it would be clear he wasn't if he went after the establishment and made some waves. I doubt I will hear back on my requests other than the standard form letters I regular receive every time I email him.
Wait! Let me hop in my custom De Lorean to go back to the future to check. ;)
I am thankful that Scott Perry is my Congressman, and before that he was my State Representative. It is very nice having a patriotic Congressman that has very similar political views to myself. I’m praying for his and his family’s health and soon kicking Covid in the butt.
You are correct that we must constantly push to keep our good Republicans from being influenced by neocons or the RINO deep state global corporatists. The globalist billionaire donor class of 2021 has loyalty to greed and wokeness, not America or MAGA. Scott appears often on Ken Matthews show 580AM.
