Hobbs’ Conduct Under Question After Jury Verdict In Retaliatory Firing And Discrimination Case (AZ SoS)

Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs is coming under attack from within her own party over her involvement in events which led a federal jury to award $2.75 million in damages this week to a former policy advisor Hobbs helped fire in 2015.

That staff member, Talonya Adams, had brought it to the attention of Democratic Senate leaders that as a Black female she was being paid significantly less than policy advisors who were White males. Adams had also documented those other staffers received pay raises while she had not, despite no negative performance reviews.

That put Adams’ claims of pay disparity on the shoulders of Hobbs, who was Senate Minority Leader in 2015, making her the top ranking Democrat in the state Senate at the time. And when Adams was terminated a short while later, there was undisputed evidence that Hobbs was intimately involved in the process.

Like I keep saying; no one is more racist than democrats. It's actually nice to see them beat with the same racist club they (wrongly) use on others all the time.

paid significantly less than policy advisors who were White males.

Maybe they gave better policy advice.

other staffers received pay raises while she had not, despite no negative performance reviews.

Maybe they had performance reviews which reflected superior performance.

Meaningless argument without knowing the education and experience levels of all involved.

Where I used to work a woman found out that a male co-worker made more money than she after 5 years of employment. They both had Master's Degrees and started work on the same day. However, she had three maternity leaves of absence, I believe for 9 months each. So, she didn't really have the same amount of experience as her male coworker and the claim was dismissed.

I wouldn’t be any good as a democrat because I would never consider paying a black prison less than a white person in a comparable job. As long as they were doing a good job...both races of employees would get paid equally. It would be wrong not to.
