Both sides have rested their case and they proceed to try to convince the jury that their client is either guilty as charged (including lesser offenses) or Not Guilty by reason of self-defense.
So far, my favorite line from the trial came from the prosecution:
ADA Binger: "Mr. Rittenhouse, you play Call of Duty, right? Isn't the goal of that game to kill everyone in sight?"
KYLE: "Well, yea, but it is a game . . . it isn't reality."
I didn’t like how the lead defense attorney kept slouching in his chair and making faces throughout the prosecution’s presentation. Unprofessional appearance.
Binger of course comes off as arrogant and really boring, but he was arguably more professional in his demeanor.
If the defense acts too aggressively in an obvious self-defense case, can they come across as trying to hide something? If they take the stance that the case isn’t even worth the time it took to write it down on paper - wouldn’t their relaxed demeanor work against the prosecutor?
Good point . . . that picture and the judge’s relaxed posture says a lot . . . at least a 1,000 words worth.
“It would seem to me that if you really dislike an attorney, you’d be more inclined to go against him”
That was a fact in a wrongful termination jury I say on. The attorney representing the plaintiff was an unattractive nerd, and not well put together.
The attorney representing the corporation was a slick flashy chick with the most expensive outfits, and very pretty.
The jury was basically children. Average age about 25 years old. During deliberations about 75% of the discussion was making fun of the one attorney’s clothes and hair, and fascination about the female attorney’s awesome shoes.
The guy had the better case, but 10 of the jurors voted for the corporation. They loved the attorney.
Agree. There were lots of times when everyone was mulling around after proceedings and KR looked in his lawyers' direction, as if wondering what to do or where to go, and they didn't even pay an iota of attention to him.
Entire prosecution case is you don’t have a right to have a gun. Can’t bring a gun to a fistfight. So the gun is on trial - even though the gun charge is no longer there because there was no basis for it.
The case is also based on FBI drone footage uncovered a couple weeks ago and the ‘enhanced’ made up pixels to claim a blur shows Kyle provoked the attack.
This is a political show trial to demonstrate riots will walk free while anyone trying to defense his community (he lived 20 minutes way) will be prosecuted if they dare intervene.
“””agreed. I love this judge”””
Having been a juror many times I like this judge. Why some FReepers are dissing the judge is something I do not understand.
Since when does the defendant have an obligation to tell the crowd anything? If anything he is telling them what he thinks he needs to say to keep them from attacking him.
The defense attorneys are fantastic.
me neither.
side note; are both sides presenting closing arguments today or just prosecution?
both
“What can possibly go wrong to have to replace a juror now?”
tons of things, e.g., one of the 12 has a heart attack ...
Because he allowed evidence and actions from the prosecution he should not have allowed. And because he cares more about what is for lunch and not being late for lunch than the life and future of this young man.
how can binger say GG did NOT point his gun at KR??
Binger is a lying scumbag. He will say ANYTHING to get a conviction.
prepare for the AR-15 to be put on trial...too powerful of a gun for self defense...the “full metal jacket” rounds put others in danger, he fired too many shots for self defense..blah blah blah
Kyle was pointing his gun at people, provoking them
a split second zoomed in distorted video still from far away proves it
This triggered Rosenburg so he chased Kyle...after Kyle shot him the others were heroes for trying to stop and active shooter...blah blah blah
yep
Or tells a joke to a bailiff. Or says he was watching media or went to the scene.
Lots of ways a juror could still get kicked off as well as the medical or family emergency.
The implication is Kyle lied = bad guy.
He’s got the two dead and one injured attacking - one with a gun to Kyle’s face - so he’s just lying his way through this hoping the jury will at least give him a second bite at the apple.
Yes, this mostly peaceful crowd could easily have gunned KR down, and that would have been just ducky, but they didn't, being so mostly peaceful and all, they just gently knocked his hat off and tapped him with a little skatey boardy as he was running away from them, the peaceful ones.
I wonder why we are not allowed to see the video evidence at this point?
