Both sides have rested their case and they proceed to try to convince the jury that their client is either guilty as charged (including lesser offenses) or Not Guilty by reason of self-defense.
So far, my favorite line from the trial came from the prosecution:
ADA Binger: "Mr. Rittenhouse, you play Call of Duty, right? Isn't the goal of that game to kill everyone in sight?"
KYLE: "Well, yea, but it is a game . . . it isn't reality."
I think the prosecution needs to pray to Satan that no one on the jury has EVER had self-defense training!
Oh, so there are no “alternates” but 18 jurors of whom 12 will deliberate??
I’m confused. Here in California they pick 12 jurors and six alternates.
I had a late start watching the debate on the final jury instructions and just saw the judge toss out the firearms charge.
It has not been a good morning for the prosecution.
On the other hand, the defense got several of its concerns regarding the jury instructions changed in their favor.
I’m confused. Here in California they pick 12 jurors and six alternates.
they start at 20 actually (2 already dismissed) then pick 12
there are no “alternates”
The reasoning is that an alternate might not be as attentive to all the proceedings, so who is on and who isn’t isn’t known.
Prosecution needs every bit of time they can get to play and replay fuzzy, grainy videos while chanting their false narrative suggestions over and over and over to the jury.
That ridiculously blurry video where they say Kyle pointed his weapon was played seven times today before I lost count.
At the beginning of the day the judge warned the attorneys that the more you repeat your points the more chance you have of losing the jury . . . I hope Binger lost the jury on the first day of testimony - especially when the judge yelled at him.
That’s his argument, that it was murder.
I’m worrying a little bit about my triglycerides and cholesterol based on all the popcorn I am consuming.
It was an ambush, in my opinion
Makiwitz with his pistol in front. Rosenbaum charging in from behind.
Just my opinion.
Matt Dillon would have been in big trouble is Binger were the town justice. (Gunsmoke for youse under 50).
What the heck does he mean by that? It’s not true....
What a moron. I bet a bunch of Wisconsin residents will be surprised to learn that their CCW's are in fact meaningless. Somebody should be pursuing a bar complaint against that guy. If he doesn't believe it, he's lying, and if he does, he's not a competent attorney.
My image of Wisconsin, having only been there maybe three times in my life, is that of a normal wholesome pro-hunting pro-gun midwestern state. I was surprised to learn from marktwain's GIF on the advances in CCW that it was one of the last two No-issue states, along with the People's Republik of I'll-Annoy (no surprise with that one).
It is an expansion, and I mean a real s-t-r-e-t-c-h, of the notion that KR intimidated or threatened first (by brandishing a gun), so the other guy had a right to threaten afterwards and so : Not Self Defense.
People on Fox are making a point about Binger’s obsession with that questionable video being still framed so as to make it look as though things were happening a lot more slowly than they were, so he can make a big deal about KR stopping and deciding to shoot again, and then again, and then again, almost as if it were pre-meditated.
The number of alternate can vary. The alternates are chosen by draw after the closing arguments.
A good defense will easily refute Binger. Th problem is the Defense has displayed sketchy competence.
They aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed and not near aggressive enough.
Binger’s obsession with that questionable video

the light area of that video that gives the illusion that it’s Kyle hand, was actually there before Kyle got there
I hope the defense points that out
