Remington, the nation’s oldest firearms maker, announced Monday that it is moving its global headquarters to LaGrange, Georgia.

The company also plans to open a new advanced manufacturing facility as well as a research and development center in the city. Through the projects, the gunmaker is expected to invest an estimated $100 million and create 856 jobs in Troup County over a five-year period.

Several of the company’s strategic products will be manufactured in Georgia, according to a news release from Gov. Brian Kemp’s office. “Georgia’s firearms industry is responsible for thousands of jobs and millions of dollars of investment in our communities,” Kemp said in a statement. “I am a proud owner of some of Remington’s first-class products, and now, I am excited to welcome them to their new home in the Peach State.”

No. The cities like NY voted for democrats. Look at a by county map of voting most counties including Remington’s home town voted red.

Founded in 1816 by Eliphalet Remington (as E. Remington and Sons) in Ilion, New York, it was one of the oldest gun makers in the US and claimed to be the oldest factory in the US that still made its original product.

So sad, what a piece of crap sate NY is. Ilion is not far West from the Capital District of NY. Anyway, I guess at least saving the company makes it a happy ending, a loss for NY.

Yes, and certainly primers and powder.

Remington manufacturers primers and brass.

That would be a great addition to Texas.

Remington has some ammo manufacturing in Lonoke, AR and Walther has a main facility in Ft Smith. I hear SIG was considering moving some of it’s facilities to AR also.

Our local Knoxville news showed the artist’s rendering of Smith and Wesson’s new HQ down in Maryville, TN. 2023 is when it’s supposed to be occupied. Beautiful complex.

Remington pulled this same scam in Alabama. Took all kinds of local “government” money and concessions then didn’t deliver on their promises. RemArms doesn’t have 100 million dollars. We shall see but I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

.........lol, a few of us, still in High School, would meet after our dates, jump in one car and head to La Grange. You walked in the main door from the gravel parking lot, took three steps and turned left into a room full of beauties....and this was usually around midnight!

“We need ammo”

They sold their ammo factory in Arkansas to the guys who own CCI and Speer and they have opened it back up.

This type of sloppy, crappy journalism irks me.

Take heart that it did NOT mention that GUNS are the USA big problem!

Absolutely! I’m amazed the major firearms mfrs that took so long to vacate the looney left Northeast US. Take care of these treasured companies, and they’ll be good neighbors.

All companies do that. Esp when they take the money from a Blue state.

They get there, and everything looks great until the union takes over, and it turns to crap i.e. Mitsubishi.

I’m surprised about Alabama. Why didn’t the stay there? Same place as GA, maybe better.
