"When I got elected governor we had 280,000 more registered Democrats than Republicans in the state of Florida," Gov. Ron DeSantis told a crowd at the National Conference of State Legislatures on Friday. "Today, and it will probably be fully publicized very soon, for the first time in the history of Florida we have overtaken Democrats. There are more registered Republicans in Florida than Democrats."

If somebody chooses to wear a mask, they are a sheep who is not fit to be part of humanity.

After reading your posts, it occurs to me that you are not qualified to make that kind of evaluation. Just sayin.

Boca Raton is a very liberal area of Florida so the people wearing masks indoors are Kool-Aid drinkers.

“In Boca Raton where my mom lives and in Miami where many friends live everyone wears masks indoors.”

Not representative of Florida. Obviously too many idiot democrats moved there from the north.

Oh yes I am. I have given up on bourgeois notions of “tolerance” a long time ago. I see anyone who wears a mask as an yet another woman neo indicator of an enemy if ever we went to civil war. ;)

“If somebody chooses to wear a mask, they are a sheep who is not fit to be part of humanity.”

Does your mother wear a mask?

“Now if only Floridiots stop wearing masks indoors I will take you seriously. “

Is your mother a “Floridiot”?

These statements make no sense. Florida’s doing just fine. I really don’t care if people choose to wear masks or not. Unless they’re outside on a bike or jogging by themselves, that’s pretty stupid.

Democratic partisans in Florida — including those in Democrat run Supervisors of Election — often discouraged Republican registrations. Gradually though, the influx of Republicans moving into the state and the realignment of the parties along ideological lines shifted registrations.

I’m an Independent, but I usually vote Republican, and will never vote Democrat, and I will be in Florida soon.

I will be in Florida soon, from Maryland, but you will never hear these dreaded words escape my lips: “That’s not how we did things where I’m from!”

If you see someone wearing a mask anywhere in Fla, it’s a very good bet they are idiots, but not from Fla. We’ve had tourists from deep blue states show up in our place of business, fully masked, and complain none of us are masked. We politely suggest they go home where they will be “safe”.

Well thats New Yawk/Joisey south. Not Florida. While we are on it, a key reason for the dramatic swing in Florida elections is DeSantis getting rid of the criminal elections officials in SE Fla.

A little bit of honesty goes a long way.

Now tell that to our jackass Cooper in NC.

He has his mouth firmly planted on Bidens balls.

“I was born and raised in Florida and it was the same for my parents. They were registered Democrats only because the Republicans stood zero chance at any elective office in Florida in those days. Of course Southern Democrats were more conservative than Northeastern Republicans. They voted Republican in all national elections.””

**************************************************************

Dittos here. My folks, then registered Democrats, first started voting Republican when Kennedy was on the ticket, and continued (voting Republican in Presidential) ever since. Eventually, registered Republican as North Florida started turning red.

“Glory hallelujah! When I was a teenager, and voting for the first time, I had to register as a Democrat, otherwise there was no one to vote for in the primaries. No one.

I was a conservative Democrat, but there were no Republicans running for office.

I don’t know if this was an anomaly or not, but that was my experience.”

***********************************************************

Up until about the late 80’s most everywhere across North Florida had Courthouses filled by conservative Democrats, and you had to be a Democrat in order to vote for anyone. I ran for office in 1984 as one of the first attempts by a Republican to seek office in my home county. Supervisor of Elections, a family friend, tried to convince me to run as a Democrat and try to win in the Primaries cause that was when all the local offices were filled. Much has changed since. Now, every office is held by a Republican.
