Cisco has updated its COVID-19 vaccination policy for US staff to make the jabs mandatory – even for those who work remotely.
The new policy, a copy of which was obtained by The Register, requires "all US-based employees (including US Territories), regardless of whether you work remotely or in a Cisco facility, be fully vaccinated … or have an approved medical or religious accommodation, by December 8, 2021."
Staff were informed of the policy in an email sent late last week. They have until November 5 to apply for medical or religious accommodations.
Workers who don't qualify for those accommodations and don't get jabbed will be sent on a leave of absence with pay until January 8, 2022. Cisco will keep them on the books as unpaid workers after that date, though it reserves the right to hire someone new or eliminate jobs vacated by the unvaxxed.

HR departments around the country have been infiltrated by women’s studies, LGBTQ studies and Black history majors. The Communists have been given the key to the kingdom by stupid Corporate types.
Companies are choosing the government teat over keeping their workforce. Good luck with that.
These people have been working the past 18 months without being vacinated and without bringing the company to its knees with Covid cases. Common sense tells us the vaccine...which does NOT prevent Covid...is just some dumb policy to keep them in good standing with the Dems.
By design.
That was my first thought.
I work for a large tech company, and got a similar notice a few days ago…. working from home, just crazy
… was hoping that would make vaccine targeted at the current variant
right now risk data showing risk of heart inflammation for no real protection against current variants (ie delta 99% of all cases)
benefit vs risk could be better
Message is messed up… if want to get people to take vaccine
perfectly safe message makes people skeptical when there are obvious adverse effects for some
better message would be.
Here is the risk of the vaccine…
Here is the risk of covid…
for a lot of people the vaccine is significantly less, but it is definitely not risk free
The vaccine technology is innovative, not perfect though
A mandate is just plain tyranny
I read every study I could find and am a bit of an exercise addict
… sitting on a ton of stock grants some vested some not
studies that are obvious: vitamin D, zinc (don’t take w/out copper), and aspirin (more recent) (heart inflammation/blood thinning clots etc)
Anyways, I got the first dose (kinda stupid cause not that effective against current variants, and I’m super isolated working from home)
but w as high of dose that can determine is safe of aspirin zinc vit D, and also the most anti inflammatory foods that can find (blueberries etc)
Not sure how much good it will do (can’t hurt though) but at least it gives a feeling of having some control over the situation when in reality do not
It’s tyranny!
the incompetent dictator masquerading as president needs to leave
karma..is a bitch
I have a lot to say about this, but I can’t. At least until next week!
It’s to identify the conforming and the non-conforming employees. Those who don’t cooperate will be terminated and replaced by more pliable individuals.
One of the weirder jobs I had was installing $500k+ of Cisco network equipment at one of their sales offices/training centers. I set it all up and had it working in the time allotted. I was not “Cisco Certified”. The sales techs and trainers were. They had no clue whatever of how to install the gear. I did work with their remote engineers, who were competent. A few of the trainees played hooky to watch me — said it was the best training they’d gotten there.
That was twenty years ago when “Cisco Certified” was a big deal.
Correct. This is no longer about FJB’s mandate; it’s about corporations wanting to establish a 5th branch of government (the Administrative branch of unelected bureaucrats being the most powerful of all 4th branch.)
maybe it pays to not leave, have them fire you, and join a class action suit.
if you’re retiring, congrats.
It would seem to me that having the vaccine was not a condition of employment. In fact having any vaccine is probably not a condition of employment therefore in incidents where a contract of employment exists unless that contract required a vaccine, terminating someone for not getting the vaccine should be a breach of contract.
My contract ends Friday, good timing.
Some Republican senators are trying to overturn the federal vaccine mandate.
Ping for reference next week...
Treat your company with all the empathy and respect that they have shown you....
Only you know the best way to let them know how much you really care...
Oh yeah...I got out around 1991..when it started feeling like working for the government...and that was in hi tech.
