You are confusing the father with the son. Marquis Grissom Sr. was born in 1967 and had a very successful major league career. According to Baseball Reference he earned over $50 million and needs nobody’s pity. The son Marquis Jr. is the son who currently plays for GA Tech. No doubt the son would like to match or exceed his father’s success and hopes the skills are genetic. I distrust NBC’s portrayal of this kid as racially discriminated and they no doubt went out of their way to create a racial problem where it doesn’t exist.
