‘We Will Lose Several Thousand People’: Top Boss Warns Against Biden Vax Mandate

Raytheon Technologies Chief Executive Greg Hayes warned Tuesday of the thousands of employees he’ll lose due to President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate on all federal workers and some private businesses.

“We will lose several thousand people,” Hayes said during a CNBC interview, Reuters reported. The company is planning to comply with Biden’s vaccine order, set to go in effect on December 8.

Raytheon Technologies, which makes Tomahawk missiles, has a total of 125,000 U.S. employees, the report noted.

The top boss also said he “expects Biden’s vaccine mandate to cause ‘some disruption’ in the supply chain in a post-earnings conference call,” Reuters noted.

Earlier this month, Delta Air Lines announced that they are ditching a vaccine mandate for employees, according to company CEO Ed Bastian, who emphasized the “divisiveness” of such an order.

Part of the problem these companies have even with accommodations is all the branch covidians in HR departments looking to make anyone who is unvaxed go through hell to stick around.

Has the order actually been formally issued and recorded or are these CEO’s merely complying with what Biden said he would do in a speech? It was my understanding state attorney generals have not yet sued in federal court to stop the executive order because it has not yet been formally issued. If this is true, why are these CEO’s complying with something that does not exist?

I work for a large defense contractor (not Raytheon) and I think they've done a fair job threading the needle complying with all the different rules nationwide but not being overbearing about it. I think they were trying to avoid people bailing because of draconian rules because it's been a tough environment to hire qualified people. These mandates will require my firm to shed thousands of people so it was all for nothing ultimately.

Then the death spiral starts as we get to keep our contracts but cannot execute on any of them due to lack of staff. So we lose contracts and have to shed more staff ... it's coming.

I’ve heard that in general employers of large firms are assuming 10% of the workforce being gone.
_____________________________________________________________

That leaves those large firms in a very good position to FAIL.
If 10% of a power plant, petrochem/oil refining plant, or food production plant “are gone” then things get real bad quick. How?
1) Lights out or random blackouts
2) Exploding(unsafe due to lack of staff) plants and/or no product(gas, oil, chemicals for meds, bleach, plastic, etc)
3) Food shelves start becoming toilet paper shelves of 2020
4) Hungry/starving folks get desperate

Add police, fire, Emergency Medical services to the “short handed” equation and things get even more exciting.

Some of these companies are handing out religious exemptions like candy. Not sure about Raytheon.

I have heard that Lockheed Martin has already begun terminations of employees. They are turning down all exemption requests IMO.
My comment is based on discussions with family member of a LM employee (one who has an engineering PhD, and over 30 years employment at that company).

Boeing: “old, male and pale” was the response from the young engineers.

Male, White, hired at pay grades below female/minority hires.

Usual breakdown on new hire groups of 12, half minority (black) females and of black males, a couple Asian females, never more than 3 White male hires.

I think you are correct. I do not think that Biden has issued any actual executive order yet. That is why there are not any Covid federal mandate court cases. Thus I do not understand why these companies are firing people.

Well, that's why he's going to lose all of those employees: instead of actually standing for principles, he's caving and forcing them to leave.

Raytheon has gone seriously downhill over the past year - ever since the merger with United Technologies. Raytheon used to be like so many other companies that said "our employees are our most valuable resource" only the funny thing was, they actually acted like they meant it. They took good care of their people. They espoused as a "core value" respect for the individual, acceptance and tolerance of viewpoints - just get the job done.

Now they have become increasingly authoritarian, less flexible, less respectful of their people. The vax mandates with no testing option is just the latest reflection of this shift in corporate values. Raytheon is no longer a leader in the industry, they are a follower, another one of the pack.

A true leader would have said to the (illegal) administration: Vaccine mandate? We will not comply, we will not make medical decisions for our people. We will not force our people to participate in risky experimental treatments. We are going to stop work immediately, as in within the hour, on every single DoD and government contract. 100% stand-down.

It would be a risk. The DoD and government certainly could "fire" Raytheon for non-performance on the contracts, and re-compete them, give them to other contractors. However, Raytheon has thousands of active contracts. Anyone familiar with government contracting knows the amount of paperwork involved in stopping a contract, re-competing contracts, selection, protests, etc. is enormous. It would shut down a significant part of the DoD for months. They never would recover Raytheon's expertise or intellectual property and proprietary technology. If even one other major contractor followed suit (ie. Raytheon acted like a true leader) it would effectively shut down the DoD.

But no. Hayes is a gutless wonder (the nicest thing I'll say about him).

I’m sure the left is distraught over a disruption in the production of tomahawk missiles. /s

Tomahawk missiles are only one of a long list of weapons systems Raytheon produces. Lefties will be dancing in the streets.

And just how long will it take those companies to negotiate the new contracts, build the necessary production lines, hire and train the manufacturing workers, hire and train the engineers, and negotiate contracts with parts suppliers?

Years. All while stocks are depleted and China stomps around the world.

Raytheon could push back.

Doctors, nurses, other health workers, nuclear scientists, firemen, police, critical military personnel to name a few occupations FJB’s mandate will decimate. Basically, any business that does business or wants to do business with the Federal government will lose a sizable percent of its employees - along with woke companies stupid decisions to fit in.
