....while Mr Baldwin is said to be distraught.

No doubt this weasel is only worried about what consequences he might face.

Why do Hollywood prop guns need ammunition? All the “to go” coffee cups are empty. Why can’t the guns be? Dub in the sound later.

I want to know if Alec was pointing the gun at the woman he killed (he must have been). If so, murder or manslaughter.

The gun “misfired”. BULLSHIRT. It had better be on film.

Yeah, right, it was the gun’s fault.

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy /s. Too bad about the people he killed/injured.

It will be a tough sell that it was the guns fault. Because it is a western, it could be assumed they were using single-action revolvers, which requires that the hammer be pulled back before the trigger will fire.

Actors are instructed on gun safety for every movie. An armorer in another article says he has worked with Baldwin several times, which suggests he has been instructed more than once.

Brandon Lee was killed in another careless accident. They made some 44 magnum dummy rounds with no powder so the rounds could be seen in the chamber from head on. But they made them with primers. Someone fired one and the bullet lodged in the throat of the barrel.
The gun was put away. In a future scene, they made standard blank rounds designed for the full blast effect. Nobody checked the barrel before doing that scene. The actor pointed the gun with blanks and fired during the scene as he was supposed to.
The bullet lodged in the barrel from the day before came out at nearly full force and killed Lee.

They really need someone truly obsessive-compulsive to manage prop guns. Especially these days with so many actors who never shoot in real life.

Did he point it intentionally at the camerawoman?

Also I remember with Tom selleck when bizerk on set of a Blue Bloods when someone pointed an empty gun at him>

Tom Selleck understands the four basic rules of firearms safety. I don't blame him for getting upset over it. Lots of people have been killed by an "empty" gun.

Should make for an interesting Trump-hate/anti-gun SNL skit.

The real question that needs to be answered here is did Baldwin fire the weapon while filming a scripted scene, rehearsing a scripted scene, or did he get careless and accidentally or purposely point it at the victims? If it’s one of the first two, the responsibility lies with the PM or FE. The other options point to Baldwin being at fault. The facts will come out.
= = =

They might even have a film of the event.

Pointed it and pulled the trigger.

Prop guns are usually real guns, and they are mostly fed blank ammo. But they can fire real. And most of the “prop” aspect comes from things such as modifying it’s appearance.
And example is the semi-auto “Bergmann 1911” in Big Jake. It was actually a Walther P-38 cosmetically modified. Planet of the Apes rifles were fully functional M-1 Carbines with a new stock.

One must wonder if Baldwin & Halyna Hutchins were “involved” or in an argument and she threatened to go public.

No sane person would point a gun at another human and pull the trigger...i.e. it was NOT an accident.

Williams cautioned against rushing to blame anyone for what might've happened Thursday on the set of Rust.

I agree.

I wonder if he and NPR would be so gracious if a celebrity weren't involved.

Update: Live ammo in the “prop” gun.

If the gun in capable of firing a live round, then it’s NOT a “prop gun”.

In a movie, you can point the gun just to the side of a person and no one will know. Camera angle. They don’t actually punch each other, either!

Yeah, but having listened to Baldwin too many times I’d bet that he thought he already “knew best” while getting training. Maybe accidentally killing a girl will break his arrogance. I doubt it. He’ll be back to his normal acehole self in a couple of months at most. He’ll probably be screaming about “common sense gun control by the end of next week.

They’re just using their hate of Baldwin to be hysterical about this. If it was Jon Voight, it would be the union’s fault.

A bunch of FReepers don’t have Brian Laundrie to worry about anymore.
