The criminals don’t want to mess with the indigenous tribes of the north Ecuador Andes. They’re tough as nails.
The surging crime rate is no doubt confined to the large urban areas of Ecuador.
We must therefore bring them here.
For many years Ecuador was one of the top destinations for people wishing to retire overseas. There are a lot of expats living there. I hope that they don’t regret their decision.

I doubt that the police are looking forward to that possibility.

I remember all of the HGTV International episodes. Lots of people moved to the coast of Ecuador after/during the Great Recession.
I recall looking on line that you could buy an ocean front condo for $150K of less and a house for $250K or less directly on the Pacific Ocean.
I also recall that the realtor was an expatriot surfer dude that said you could get all new kitchen cabinets made for $2000 made from SA hardwoods.
