Terry McAuliffe is misreading what matters to Virginia voters
Washington Examiner ^ | October 17,2021 | by Salena Zito

If voters here back Youngkin, it won't be because they woke up and decided that they love Republicans again. It will be because the Democrats have pissed them off. Most of their answers will begin in 2020, when their children were quarantined at home at the onset of the pandemic and they realized the amount of control and power school boards have over what their children learn.

To win, McAuliffe has to change the dynamic. He's got two ways to do it. One requires introducing something that is truly disqualifying for Youngkin. That hasn't worked, and so the other is to associate Youngkin with Trump, which also isn't working. Most voters' concerns in this election have literally nothing to do with Trump, and they’d like you to stop asking about him, thank you very much.

Democrats may be in a far worse position than they understand — not only in Virginia, but everywhere. Biden has become the new Trump, and attitudes toward him are the new measurement of dissatisfaction with Washington.

In the last two governor races in Virginia, if you look at the early vote by party — obviously you don't know how anybody voted — you know how many Republicans and how many Democrats have voted during early voting. The Democrats' advantage this year is far behind where it was in the last two gubernatorial election cycles.

So what is Virginia telling us? It might be that a red wave is at least a possibility.

He must not be very good...I live in Florida and a car with California plates was in the parking lot and I asked where they were from San Diego

I lived for a time in San Diego, a little over a decade ago. I absolutely loved it. Truly one of the most beautiful cities in America.

Unfortunately, San Diego is in California and California was going to hell. I don't know how much of this can be laid at the feet of Kevin Faulconer.

I too left for Florida. It had nothing to do with how San Diego was being run and everything to do with how California was being run.

Anyways, I still maintain that Faulconer would've had a better chance if Elder wasn't in the race. I don't understand how people here believed that California was going to go from Gavin Newsom to electing a man who is basically a black Donald Trump. Wasn't ever going to happen.

THIS WE KNOW-——sexual assaults in VA public schools went unreported b/c it would have hurt Democrat McAuliffe’s political ambitions.

Things Are Not Adding Up The Way McAuliffe Wants Them To

This is not adding up the way Terry McAuliffe thought it would.

He thought he could tie Glenn Youngkin to Donald Trump and be done with the upstart. Then he thought he could align himself with the man who expelled Trump from the White House – whose political reputation would put him in the mainstream of Virginia’s Democrat Party.

Then he thought he could paint his opponent as a waffler on abortion and anti-vax zealot and place himself on the side of the school boards against parents in the various fights over curriculum going on in Loudoun County and elsewhere.

As these strategies have unfolded, McAuliffe’s lead over Youngkin has shrunk from nine points in August to six in September to one as of the first week of October. The Cook Political Report has moved the race into the tossup category. The coalitions of voters that have enabled Democrats to win every statewide race since 2009 are in place, but the numbers are down significantly from what they usually deliver.

In Northern Virginia – the 8th, 10th and 11th congressional districts, which include large swaths of Fairfax County, Alexandria, Arlington and Loudoun counties – McAuliffe leads, 64-36. Last November, Fairfax went 70 percent for Joe Biden, Alexandria and Arlington went 80 percent and Loudoun 61 percent.

But Biden’s disapproval rating in Virginia has increased 15 points since February and his unfavorable rating by 17 points, according to Roanoke College polling. Biden, who endorsed and campaigned for McAuliffe, is now polling in the low- to mid-40s in Virginia. The poll found 22 percent said Biden’s endorsement made them more likely to vote for McAuliffe, but 39 percent said it made it less likely.

McAuliffe himself admitted resident Biden was a drag on his ticket.

Snip

In the past, a McAuliffe would lose by20points.

That was before democrats perfected vote fraud, in which Virginia now leads the nation.

McAuliffe already has a million vote lead thanks to early and no ID voting.

Youngkin will need a 135% turnout to change the outcome.

(I made up the one million figure.
It’s actually much worse)

I’m not sure where you got your information. I just voted and was required to provide an ID. I know Northam tried to get rid of voter ID but it is still required throughout the state. I’m not sure about the 1 million. They do cheat but they are, in my opinion, in reality behind, probably by a lot, which is why he is pulling out the stops to knock on every door—had McAuliffes people call me and offer to bring a yard to my house and set it up—No thanks. Never heard of this being done before. They need more votes so they can hide the cheating better.

You do not require a photo ID.
You can bring in a utility bill. I can take any utility bill and change the name and address to anything and they will accept it. Send me your name and address and I will go vote for you. It’s already happening as people show up to vote and find that some democrat has already voted for them.

McAuliffe knows exactly what matters to Virginia voters: free stuff, with an assist from mail-in ballots.
