Babbitt’s real crime was supporting Trump and like others before her she got the death penalty for doing that. You might consider those “simple” facts before smearing her memory.

She was part of a crowd that had already breached deep into the building. I’d take a guy with a baseball bat over a crowd that had just violently entered the area I’m charged to protect.
But that’s just me...It’s easy to armchair analyze this later - and dangerous when bias colors your perspective. In my case, my heart is completely with the protesters. But this was just a really bad situation and all the pieces fit together to result in what happened.
At least, that is how I see it, and opinions vary.

Of course people can have a different perspective.
If you are a Bodyguard in a position where you are cornered and persons are coming toward your ‘Protectee’ and you have no idea if they are armed or otherwise dangerous, you must respond to the potential threat.
Imagine that someone managed to get into the Oval Office while the President was in there. Would you expect the Secret Service to do nothing? I think that the Intruder ought properly be shot in the head. What else is the SS expected to do, read them their Rights while there is chaos all around?
There is always another way to look at things.
I think that is a distinct possibility, and the shooter was not in on it. Their leaving, followed by the “huns” smashing the door and starting to get through would have influenced his decision to shoot.
That’s the thing - It is tragic what happened, but it is a simple fact that doing what she was doing brought risks that never crossed her mind. I don’t think they thought anyone would shoot, but pushed far enough, they will. This wasn’t the outside entrance to a walmart.
My point is there needs to be one legal standard. Not one for liberal protesters and a different one for conservative protesters....
If the accepted standard for assassinating Ashli Babbitt (an unarmed woman- a vet) - applies to all equally, then when a cop says ‘STOP’ and the BLM protesters don’t STOP - - the cop has the right to murder them. Right there on the spot. Each cop becomes judge, jury and executioner.

Exactly right. If she had been black cities would still be burning across America today with shouts of black lives matter. What a disgusting upside down world we live in right now.

BTW, I was talking about the other cops in the room. If you discharge your weapon at another person, any other armed people have been given carte blanch to engage you, post haste.
I had a hard time with the Kent State shooting. When I heard about it, I actually had an attitude that, in modern terms, could be summed up as, “Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.”.
And you and I disagree strongly on the Floyd case. I don’t think that cop was a boy scout and there were probably a lot of bad things he did in the past, but this one was by the book.

You didn’t answer my question: How far would protesters get into the White House? You can’t just allow unauthorized people to keep advancing.

Well then how did that window get broken?
She was breaching a secure government facility that was known by all to be protected with deadly force. Her family has no civil case. The guard prevented her and everyone behind her from advancing. Try breaching a nuclear facility or the White House and see how far your next of kin gets with a civil lawsuit.
I hope folks realize that if our republic survives it will be because of a few genuine heroes who work tirelessly such as Fitton, Project Veritas and a couple of others.
