More than 500 pages of internal documents from DC Metropolitan Police concerning the fatal shooting of Ashli Babbitt in the Capitol on Jan. 6 reveal witness accounts stating she was not holding a weapon at the time of her death and how "upset" the officer was after shooting her.
"These previously secret records show there was no good reason to shoot and kill Ashli Babbitt," stated Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, which obtained the documents through a May 2021 FOIA lawsuit. "The Biden-Garland Justice Department and the Pelosi Congress have much to answer for the over the mishandling and cover-up of this scandalous killing of an American citizen by the U.S. Capitol Police."
Babbitt, an Air Force veteran, was shot and killed during the storming of the Capitol by a bullet fired by Capitol Police officer Lt. Michael Byrd. The documents from the DC Metropolitan Police department show that witnesses did not see Babbitt holding a weapon prior to her being shot, and reveal conflicting accounts of whether Byrd verbally warned Babbitt before shooting her.

Three SWAT guys right behind her did not see her as a threat.
Second guessing the actions of others in highly charged situations like that is a very difficult art.
Opinions vary. đ
How could you be more wrong!!
So Ashli Babbitt had a baseball bat and was addressing it toward this cop??? She was intentionally going directly for this cop with a bat or weapon aimed directly for him???
Dumbest comment this week.
Had I been there with a weapon, (that you claim not being allowed to carry prevented you from going) there would have been a second shot...
It wasn’t in the street, it was after a mob had taken over the US Capitol.
There is a long version of the video that shows the uniformed Capitol police who were in front of the door leave just before the window is broken.
My question is why and who told them to leave?
The whole thing looks like a planned hit to me and that Ashli was set up to be killed.
So then at the very least, manslaughter. When are the charges filed?
That sounds like he murdered someone, not because his life was in danger, but for crowd control?
I like to play a mind game to help myself center (away from left or right bias) with stories like this: I imagine he was protecting Trump in that side room and the “rioters” were antifa and BLM. Based on the evidence in the videos, what would I have done? And not he dit not simply stick his gun out and fire. It took a while. What was he thinking or doing in that time? There was a LOT of adrenalin in that place.
I think Floyd was handled correctly. I think the cops did what was necessary. What happened to any of the cops involved was a travesty of justice.
I don’t miss pantywaist.
Ashli Babbitt Day
January 6th
So you missed the SWAT team of about 10-12 officers behind her in full view of the shooter?
Human beings are not perfect. They are emotional beings. In a situation like that, anything can happen. And when you are charged with protecting the elected representatives of a constitutional republic and the “huns” have just broken through the last door between them and you, well, you just might pop off a couple of rounds to slow them down.
It is critical to note this was not the front door of the building, and all that that implies.
It is strange that so many witnesses were right there, and this is the first time I’ve read about anyone saying Byrd warned her, except Byrd himself. Hmmmm.
Maybe cross-examine the ANTIFA guy who took the video; and maybe a few more questions of Mr. ANTIFA allowed by the judge to establish the narrative as an eyewitness; and "Gee oh by the way, who else did you contact about attending the rally before, during, and after?"
Then let's hear from the leader of the tactical team that was right behind her at the top of the stairs; why did you hold at the top of the stairs when people were breaking out the door glass; why did you permit entry to those chambers; what were your orders and when did you receive them?
"The unjustifiable, inexcusable, and intentional killing of a human being without deliberation, premeditation, and malice. The unlawful killing of a human being without any deliberation, which may be involuntary, in the commission of a lawful act without due caution and circumspection."
A small woman with no weapons is trying to balance while crouched on a window frame.
The people behind her, including several policemen, are calling it a day and leaving.
She has to be shot?
There werenât other gunshots.
The police behind here werenât struggling with anyone.
She might have been trying to find a quicker way out. The police were all over the stairs.
A five year old could have pushed her backwards.
Donât worry I get along with crazy....
First, I don’t think you and I saw the same videos and, second, with that commotion, how would the shooter have interpretted the commotion he was seeing that deep in the building, and right at a door being destroyed by “rioters” - and the first one climbing through?
I’d have shot to kill, and hoped I had spare magazines. I’ve seen “Black Hawk Down.” đ¤
