Twitch has suffered a huge data breach.
On Wednesday, an anonymous 4chan user shared a 135GB torrent link on the site which includes a slew of internal Twitch information. Pretty much the entirety of Twitch has been leaked by an anonymous hacker.
Video game news outlet VGC seems to have been the first to report the data breach and have verified the files mentioned in the leak.
In an email to Mashable, a Twitch spokesperson confirmed that a breach occurred.
"We can confirm a breach has taken place," Twitch said in a statement. "Our teams are working with urgency to understand the extent of this. We will update the community as soon as additional information is available. Thank you for bearing with us."
Twitch appears to have been targeted by the hacker. "Jeff Bezos paid $970 million for this, we're giving it away FOR FREE," wrote the user, referencing Amazon's 2014 acquisition of the livestreaming platform.
They continued to explain their actions behind the leak. "Their community is also a disgusting toxic cesspool, so to foster more disruption and competition in the online video streaming space, we have completely pwned them," they said.

"Twitch is an American video live streaming service that focuses on video game live streaming, including broadcasts of esports competitions. In addition, it offers music broadcasts, creative content, and more recently, "in real life" streams. It is operated by Twitch Interactive, a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc. It was introduced in June 2011 as a spin-off of the general-interest streaming platform Justin.tv. Content on the site can be viewed either live or via video on demand."
How much do streamers make?
I thought Twitch was a character on South Park!
Didn’t they wwlcome that tranny “deer” a couple of years ago that wanted to ban people off the platform?
Thats tweek you are thinking of I think.
Thanks. I had no idea what a ‘twitch’ was, and wondered what it could possibly mean to me.
As it turns out, nothing.
Apparently they instituted "woke" policies which ticked off some people.
Lots of people downloading it.. crazy— A billion dollars worth of stolen IP....

Thanks. I’m not a big Twitch fan...but can remember “PayMoneyWubby” railing against the larper “deer dude”. Really sick stuff.
CriticalRole a group which streams themselves playing Dungeons & Dragons made $9 million last year.
The $9 mil payout was over 2 years.
What? They only make $4.5 mil a year? What a ripoff!
Thanks.
My oldest son makes mods for Fallout games, and streams mostly Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 4 on Twitch, although he doesn’t make anything like the numbers shown at the Twitter link. I sent him a heads-up anyway, and the link to the article.
They probably make a lot more than that. This data is only from the payouts from twitch itself - sponsorships, direct donations, etc. would not appear on it.
Had to be an inside job, I would think.
There are thousands of streamers. Only the best make that sort of scratch. I’ve been watching some streamers since they started and saw them grow into big names. I’ve also watched some streamers sputter and fade away. You have to be a compelling personality and be a really good video gamer. People will pay to watch down-to-earth folks play video games moderately well, but they’ll pay VERY well to watch interesting personalities play videos games expertly.
I’ll bet the IRS is paying close attention to this.
Twitch has to send a 1099 if it pays you more than $600.
