America thinks the unthinkable: More than half of Trump voters and 41% of Biden supporters want red and blue states to SECEDE from one another and form two new countries, shock new poll finds

Many breathed a sigh of relief when President Biden was elected, not for policy but for a reunification of the country after four years of tumult and fiery division under President Trump. But eight months into the new presidency, America's deep disunity might not be letting up.

A new poll has revealed that political divisions run so deep in the US that over half of Trump voters want red states to secede from the union, and 41% of Biden voters want blue states to split off.

According to the analysis from the University of Virginia's Center for Politics, 52% of Trump voters at least somewhat agree with the statement: 'The situation is such that I would favor [Blue/Red] states seceding from the union to form their own separate country.' Twenty-five percent of Trump voters strongly agree.

Abolitionism had been a growing force for over a century. It is one of the reasons mentioned in many of the articles of secession. It didn't just happen in 1860, but rather had built up to that point by 1860.

Abolitionists were a tiny minority even in the North. They couldn't get any of their candidates elected. In fact, they struggled to get double digit percentages of the vote in any election.

I’m stunned this is shocking - the two sides hate each other equally.

There’s not one reason to stay together.

Work it out - peacefully spit the country and get on with living with people we like... for both sides.

Remember THEY GET GEORGE SOROS... WE WON’T EVEN ALLOW THAT SACK OF SH*T INTO OUR COUNTRY. THEY GET THE CORRUPT COMMIE ‘FOUNDATIONS’...

THINK OF IT - NOT ONE LIBERAL ‘ELITE’ PROFESSOR IN OUR WHOLE COUNTRY.

They can outlaw EVERY GUN EVER MADE. THEY CAN OUTLAW BUTTER KNIVES FOR ALL WE CARE... THEIR COUNTRY - THEIR RIGHT.

ABORTION UP UNTIL 5 DAYS AFTER BIRTH IN CASE THE KID’S UGLY..
WHATEVER THEY WANT. IN THEIR COUNTRY.

You’re wrong... all white liberal ‘elites’ will go with PUS (progressive United States) and everyday democrats might want a taste of those billions.

Why not?

That’s a big incentive. Illegals might want in on that action too. It’s the least guilty white liberal elites can do...Everyone happy with their own beliefs.

Aside from the big tech and such, it just seems to me that many of the liberal elites got rich on the backs of taxpayers. The rich are going to have to pay some hefty taxes in their new country to pay for the 50% welfare recipients and millions of illegals they let in.

Maybe they would go for it, it’s not like they think things through that far.

I bet it would end up looking something like this:

The articles of secession, and the fact that slavery was abolished after the Civil War, tells me all I need to know.

I have said repeatedly recently to my spouse that Abraham Lincoln made a huge mistake.

No he didn't. He did exactly what he set out to do. Maintain economic control over the southern states and prevent them from becoming a financial threat to his Northeaster corporate bosses.

The Republicans were formed to abolish slavery. We even have a monument dedicated to one who managed to get elected to some office, but I can't seem to recall who that was.

No they weren't. They were against the spread of slavery and they were for large protective tariffs and lavish government subsidies for the Northern corporate fatcats. They were explicitly not abolitionist.

Would it have been horrible if the slave states hadn't seceded for no better reason that to preserve their right to slave labor?

That is a lie that has been used for propaganda since the war started and it is told for the purpose of misdirecting people into believing that invading the southern states was justified.

The Northern states passed the Corwin amendment which would guarantee continued slavery in the United States indefinitely. Furthermore, slavery was never under any threat of abolition from the Union until it became advantageous to the war effort to pursue it.

When Lincoln started his invasion of the South, he had absolutely no intention of abolishing slavery.

What the Southern states wanted was economic control over their own trade. You may not be aware of this, but the southern states produced 73% of all the trade with Europe.

The Republicans abolished slavery. None of your twisting and cherry picking of historical data can refute that.

Obviously you haven't studied history very carefully. The EP was not until 2 years into the war. Even then, Lincoln went miles out of his way to make sure it only applied to areas the federal government did not control. It was a war measure intended to make it diplomatically difficult for Britain or France to intervene on the side of the CSA and to hopefully cause chaos in the CSA. Slavery was later abolished in 1866 because the Republicans had to try to cloak the war they had started thinking it would be easy but which instead turned into a bloodbath in the veneer of some kind of higher purpose. That most definitely was not what they went to war for.

The articles of secession clearly stated what it was about, and slavery was abolished after the war.

The U.S. and Canada didn't fight a protracted and bloody rebellion before separating.

Well, that's because the Canadians kicked the US's @$$ when we tried to invade them. Also, when the US and Canada separated, the US was too weak to bully them. Things were different "four score and seven years" later.

Had the South won their rebellion...

Wasn't a "rebellion." That is a lie. They had a right to leave and exercising a right to leave is not "rebellion."

The Republicans were not for the abolition of slavery. Abolitionists were in a tiny minority in the North. Neither Secession nor the war were "about" slavery. None of your PC Revisionism can change that.
