The longest-lived person in history so far is Jeanne Calment, a chain-smoking French woman born in 1875 who died aged 122 years and 164 days in 1997.
However it may be possible to outlive her record, a study has found.
Researchers analysed the lifespans of more than 3,800 Italian 'semi-supercentenarians', who made it beyond the age of 105, and more than 9,800 people who achieved the same longevity in France.
They conclude that beyond the age of 110, when people with poor genes and terrible health have typically died off already, the chances of staying alive are roughly 50/50.

Can I have your extra years, then?
Thanks!
Regards,
I sincerely hope that that is a purely philosophical musing which you occasionally indulge in - before resuming the planning of your next jet ski vacation.
Regards,
From a humanistic point-of-view, most want to live forever.
It comes with consequences. Bet.
More power to ya.
How about names like: Amos, Elijah, Ezekiel, Habakkuk, Melchizedek, and Obadiah?
Them are "old-timey" names!

A thousand years have come and gone but time has passed me by
Stars stopped in the sky
Frozen in an everlasting view
Waiting for the world to end, weary of the night
Praying for the light
Prison of the lost
Xanadu
Xanadu...
Held within the Pleasure Dome
Decreed by Kubla Khan
To taste my bitter triumph
As a mad immortal man
Nevermore shall I return
Escape these caves of ice
For I have dined on honeydew
And drunk the milk of Paradise
Xanadu - Rush
Was your infancy that terrible?
Regards,
Just a very bad prognosis for my back, I know what’s coming in the more or less near term and have accepted it. Basically, that dying with your boots on mentality. I’m doing my best to burn both ends of the candle while I can. Are you old enough to have to begin coming to terms with such things yet?
I lost a 72 year old brother in law last year. He was the most independent man I have ever known. His health deteriorated very quickly and he was faced with immobility, pain, dialysis and probably could have hung on for maybe years. He said, No, let me die with my dignity and self respect. He refused the dialysis and was gone very quickly. I totally understand and respect his decision.
Not if Gates and the rest of the elites can help it.
Can’t say since I don’t remember being an infant.
I just heard a few days ago that COVID has dropped two years off US male life expectancy.
Exactly! So it probably wasn't that bad!
Regards,
From what we see so far, I expect wave after wave of this to come every year culling the elderly. As new arrivals enter the age of those at risk, they will walk into the killing fields. These “vaccines” insure survival of the virus, and susceptibility to the disease. This seems to be the plan that China sold to world leaders.
My opinion, of course.
Well, I suppose it wouldn’t if I were mentally incapacitated, suffering from dementia or in a coma. But if I am completely coherent and in mentally stable then, yes, it would be miserable for me.
It’s not how long we live; it’s how long we live with a good quality of life. Just sitting around in pain or with dementia is no way to live.
Oh, yes! We’ll be drunk on Champagne for weeks!
Well said. In our 70s, finally able to enjoy life and obtain anything we want, not just what we need. But pain or dementia would ruin all that. When my wife and I were young, we started out broke and couldn't afford anything, struggled for years. 50 years later we're able to take it easy, but know we're getting on in years. I was cleaning my front stairs 3 days ago and slipped with a bad fall down the granite stairs, hitting my hip, elbow and head. Rubbed on some medicine, and counted my blessings - no broken bones. Life is 50/50, anything can happen to ruin quality of life.
Keith is a walker.😁
