A federal judge tore into a low-level defendant in the Capitol Riot Friday, moments after the man entered a guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge stemming from the Jan. 6 unrest.
“You’ve disgraced this country in the eyes of the world and my inclination would be to lock you up, but since the government isn’t asking me to do that ... I won’t,” U.S. District Court Judge Reggie Walton shouted at Fort Pierce, Fla., resident Anthony Mariotto during a video hearing. “I find it outrageous that American citizens would do what you did, so you better walk the straight and narrow, sir, you understand?”....
the judge, an appointee of former President George W. Bush. “It was an attack on our government, and I love my government. This government has been good to me. To see somebody destroy, or try to destroy, the Capitol is very troubling to me.”

“”I love my government.””
If he’s stupid enough to say something as despicable as that, he doesn’t deserve his job or his paycheck! Get gone!!!!!
Reggie Walton is a jerk.
most people have no idea the arrogance and ignorance of judges.
I no longer believe that persons such as the scummy lying judge are unaware of their hypocrisy. They’re evil and relentless. They know what they are doing.
No kidding? Just damn.
IIRC, Richard Armitage should have gone to prison over that one, if anyone. And maybe Colin Powell.
Disgraced this country? Anthony Mariotto honored the citizens of this country. He would have fit right in with our founders who called out the British for their tyranny.
I would have told the judge to do it or he’s a coward of the first order.
“This government has been good to me.”
Yes, it gave this graduate of West Virginia State University a lifetime appointment to exercise considerable power in the capital of the greatest of nation on earth. If you read the linked article, you will see that the judge did not even have the charges correct when he start ripping apart the defendant and said that the defendant was pleading guilty to “pandering” instead of parading. The judge is a self-important clown who does not appear to be particularly bright.
“To see somebody destroy, or try to destroy, the Capitol is very troubling to me.”“
This judge reminds me of the one at the beginning of Errol Flynn’s “Captain Blood” film….
Had that quarter to half a million bunch wanted to destroy ANYTHING, it would not be standing today..
Should be grounds for a mistrial.
With all due respect, Judge Walton, if you love your country you should direct your contempt to those who are really trying to destroy it: the Biden administration, the Deep State. the Democrat party and establishment Republicans.
Maybe we should just have it all out in the open and have these jerks swear on a Koran or a piece of used toilet paper, their loyalty to the guvmint rather than to defend the constitution. This judge makes me sick. 🤢 🤮
judge walton was also on cases for Whitewater, Hatfill (anthrax) and mueller.
BUSH judge.
LOL. I was thinking the same. Total Kangaroo court.
More proof here we live in a post Constitutional nation.
Our government is in the hands of traitors.
And we elected them. This stooge is a Bush appointee.
Loves the country to the point he is willing to ignore the tenets of it’s founding.
‘the judge, an appointee of former President George W. Bush. “It was an attack on our government, and I love my government. This government has been good to me. To see somebody destroy, or try to destroy, the Capitol is very troubling to me.”’
Everything wrong with the country in under 50 words!
