I think they mean no FEDERAL Income tax. My state tax was more than my federal tax shortly after Trump signed the 2017 tax cuts into law.

And while Pennsylvania's tax is modest compared to most of our neighbors (3.6%), your locality taxes its 1% cut from dollar 1. Then there is a stupid occupancy tax for where you live, a per capita tax, a tax for where you work ($1 per week) and an assortment of other stupid annoying local taxes.

When our daughters went off to college, the local Chick-fil-A where they had worked in high school had an open invitation for them to work any holiday they returned. That lasted until a stupid "occupancy tax" passed that took the first $50 you earned. Not much incentive for a kid home from college for a short vacation to work.

I made 120 last year and paid 5k in taxes. So the problem is much h greater than the 61%. A lot more pay near zero
