France on Saturday accused Australia and the United States of lying over a ruptured Australian contract to buy French submarines, warning a grave crisis was underway between the allies...
...Speaking to France 2 television, Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian gave no indication Paris was prepared to let the crisis die down, using distinctly undiplomatic language towards Australia, the United States and Britain,...

Biden lied to the people helping us in Afghanistan... lied to our allies, lied to the American people about the border... and inflation... And he lied to the French.
Press toadies have taught democrats they can lie about anything and get a pass. The world was better off with Trump.
RE: #2
Wait ‘til you see the cost overruns when the US builds some subs.
There’s no pique like French pique...
The French are notorious for changing deals after contracts are signed.
France did it to India after France won a contract for 36 Rafale fighters. All but the first few were to be constructed in India by HAL, but that part of the deal fell through and all 36 are being manufactured in France instead.
100 percent agree! Well said, naturalman1975!
France is smarting because as a nation, it has been declared irrelevant.
The French subs are not up to the South China Sea task and France certainly can’t be depended on to fight in a Pacific alliance
France is Europe ..........was
Let us also not forget it was the French who refused the overflight of aircraft during Eldorado Canyon (Libya attack), making us fly the long way from the UK. They also seem to want to get involved in NATO ops only when they can have an advantage. The only thing France gave us that was worth anything was: 1. Assistance during the revolutionary war, 2. Statue of Liberty, and 3. The croissant (a delicious breakfast treat). They, and their socialist regime can all go pound sand.
I agree with that assessment.
As an American, I am not sure I want to share any weapons technology with anyone these days, but if I were to share any at all...
I would share it with the Australians.
Australia stood by our men in uniform when they were covered in mud in Vietnamese jungles and sand in Middle East deserts, while France and the rest of them spit in their faces.
Nope. If I had one country today to ally with, it would be Australia.
Has the Biden Admin stepped in another pile of merde?
Le Figaro and Le Monde don't seem to be treating this with the same inflated seriousness as the government. Some commentary in the German press is trying to call this an affront to the EU, but few German readers commenting on the websites are taking the bait: they view it (correctly) as the French screaming about lost money and have serious doubts about the credibility of any EU armed forces. More interesting is they blame Germany more than France for the lack of EU military credibility.
Countries do not have friends, they have interests.
DeGaul, Vietnam, and the Suez canal have shown French interest are not ours.
But this would assume we actually have a functioning executive when we in fact have different agencies parceled out to different Dem Party cabals who don't communicate with each other.
“It makes no sense having that many subs in Hawaii”
I would argue that they’re not actually in Hawaii, they are homeported out of Hawaii and there are tenders that can be just about anywhere in the world to provide Logistics or any repair concerns.
But then again, these are nuke subs and diesel boats would be much easier to maintain in various facilities globally.
The whole concept of a nuclear Navy is to have durable far-reaching assets with that can operate independently if required to do so. A diesel boat or staging tenders and other supporting assets throughout the world does not coincide with current strategic planning for nuclear powered fleets, sustainable through nuclear power for extended periods.
