Football aka Soccer is the most played and also the most watched sport on earth by a large margin. During the 2018 World Cup half of the entire planet watched it. Read that again half of nearly 8 billion people watched the cup. No other sport certainly not American football comes close to an audience like that. 3.6 billion people watched the cup and countless more would have if they had access to satellite TV. I have seen Soccer played on every one of the 6 continent’s I have lived and worked on. I have seen video of Soccer played in Antarctica the one continent I have yet to step on.
